I am still out in Junction, Texas (you can look it up) doing some hunting. Haven't taken anything so far but seeing a lot of deer. I can be particular and wait on the one I want, or till the end of the season to collect meat for the freezer.

But, the highlight so far is our oldest daughter. She wanted me to sit in the stand with her one afternoon to take pics of a 10 point she was watching.
So me and the 300mm Nikon were waiting.

When, about 80 yards down in a creek bottom, the big one stepped out. No time for pics then. Was on her side of the box stand and she eased the thutty ought six out the window, took her breaths, relaxed, shook some, more deep breaths, and squeezed off a perfect neck shot.

Now that was something special, to be in the stand when a child takes a monster like that one.

What a beauty.

and the deer is also :D:D

Her hubby came and field dressed it with his freshly sharpened 110 420hc
Funny part there, she used this fancy phone picture thing and just sent him a pic of it... He got the message.

Then when we got around to the cleaning tree, and got the skin off (which we use the truck for) (thats another story) he immediately grabbed up one of the 121's I had laid out and finished quartering it up and into the ice chest.

But, somehow he managed to slice into a finger. We think it was him not being used to the extra length of the 121 over the 110.

And the rack was a 21 inch spread as measured by the local feed store contest judge, and has 15 points, some of which can't be seen in this pic.

That right there, has made this a successful hunting season, even if I don't get one...lol....

So,,,,anyone else having hunting fun?

An afterthought, this is a pretty good rack for this area of the Texas Hill Country. I know it doesn't measure up to other parts of the USA, but is considered a good rack for these parts.

Pack Rat...I concur with both of your comments. So I got a bigger picturer in here for the boys.

I'm sure your daughter was delighted and you where lucky to share it with her.:thumbup::thumbup:

PRICELESS is all I can say Flatlander....:D I would have posted the big pic, but I know how cranky Trax gets :D

Cherish the moment Longbow!! Take along an extra Buck :D

Yeah Decaffe, there are some goats around here that may well weigh more than this deer did. It only field dressed 90lbs..... per our old scales. We had a very dry spring so the acorn crop and browse is slim... We are putting out around 375 gallons of water a week in vats around the place to help with the water where the seeps and ponds in the canyon bottoms have dried up.

Very nice PR! Enjoy the quality family time hunting! Thats a nice deer! You should be very proud!

Not too much deer hunting here yet for me... But, a guy I work with "grilled" :D a nice 10 pointer on the way to work yesterday. Me and another coworker cut it up with a 501 and my S30V rush!
Don't want any meat to go to waste ;)

Your daughter does not look happy at all!:D :D
What an awesome buck, made even better since you were there to watch the whole thing unfold.
I like a deer with a lot of "trash". Looks like hers has an extra brow tine? How cool!!
I just had my buddy from San Diego in town for a week of whitetail hunting. He got a shot on a decent 8 point but slapped his string on the shot and completely air balled it. Nothing but dirt.
The rut is starting to fire up around here so I am hoping to do some hunting of my own soon.
Thanks for the picture and the story!

Pack Rat, I've hunted near there and for a drought year, it is a nice Whitetail. Way to go daughter... You should purchase a lottery ticket. Buck 110 will slice the skin. DM
