Thanks for all the comments guys and glad you enjoyed the pics. I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures this season, seeing pics of what everyone scores, and reading about which Busses you used to process your game or use around camp and how you thought they performed.
All kinds of tasty things that fly in Texas.....Eagle Headed Blue from Wharton trip 2008. Camera stinks and mounted in the garage so bad pick of this gorgeous bird.
We need to hook up sometime Swoop. Like to try some Longhorn Dove.

GPB: Nice goose mount, I don't know that I've ever seen one of those geese before. I'm always up for a dove or a goose hunt and don't mind spending all day in a freezing flooded rice field if that's what it takes to get it done. I just picked up a camo Remington SP-10 at local gun show a couple of weekends ago and I'm looking forward to using it on some coastal geese this winter.
Many squirrels around here have woves or warbles until after the first frost, but yours looked clean
RedbeAR15: Yeah, I always look for those wove worms, especially when it's this early in the season. This squirrel didn't have any. In my experience, I've always found them more frequently with early season rabbits than with squirrels. Nasty looking buggers, aren't they?
It's good to eat what you kill, that's the way it should be. For most its just more trouble then it's worth. But I just don't know how... I ahold get out more, seems like something I would love...
Great post!
Liu Kang: I understand hunting isn't for everyone but if you think you might enjoy it give it try. You can see from a lot of the responses here that a lot of the members have fond memories of times afield. I always enjoy my time in the field whether I get any game or not. Go with a close family member or a good friend and you'll make memories that will last you a lifetime. Plus, you'll just have that many more opportunities to use all that INFI you have.
very nice,my property where i live is covered in pecan trees and i used to give the squirrels hell with my slingshot and bb gun when i was a kid.one time i shot a mockingbird though, and my dad cooked it and made me eat it.it tasted like burnt shat.
blade1981: Sounds like your dad raised you a lot like my dad did me. Sometimes I thought he was being pretty hard on me but it all makes sense now and I appreciate the upbringing I got from him.
last squirrel I had was pretty tough to chew
paua: You're not kidding Bro, some of those older squirrels can be tough as boot leather!
You rocking the house with the skills Brother!
Slingshotin and cooking dinner
Great pics, and tails....er...tales!
knife hunter: Never get tired of your humor, thanks T.
It's also good to kill and eat that which irritates you.
Paddling_man: Classic!!! I may have to make that my sig line.
Jeff, If I wasn't getting on a plane to europe in a couple days I'd be getting on a plane to Texas for some of your cooking!
I'll be the guy with a bib on drooling outside your house looking like one of the zombies from "night of the Living dead" muttering.....DOVE!! DOVE!!
J
manix J: You know you're welcome anytime Bro, I'll set a place for ya next time just in case!
