First of all, If I don't pick one of these knives it's going to be a BK2. So please no kabar/becker suggestions. An please no "Just with that dude", or "Just save this much more man"...Thankyou. And I know I do alot of these, but I like to narrow these choices down as much I can.

I a have a pretty small collection, no fixed blades except a pair of moras...I have a Minnesota/Canadian camping trip coming up soon and I need a good blade. I have about $100, so I'd like it to be under that. I'm also getting a fiskars or a cold steel hawk so I doesn't have to be a big chopper. This will be for bushwork.

I'm looking for something like this...

3 1/2 to 6 inches blade length

A nice carbon steel, or if stainless then vg10, 154cm, scandi steel, s30v.

A nice sheath, no velcro retention straps, and I'd like it to be able to attach to MOLLE

Not made in china..

Under $100. ..

your moras should be fine .. but if you're looking for something extra...than perhaps a kellam, Jarvenpaa or one of the other fine puukkos.. also for relatively cheap you can get a nice scandi blade blank on ragweed forge and make one yourself... If you are looking for a tank of a small belt knife Fallkniven f1 all the way... or as Runsalone mentioned RAT

I like full tangs, I just don't trust a mora for hard work. I'll bring them so I don't dull the my main blade though, and they are comfortable.

Pretty much what Riley said. RAT if you need the MOLLE capability. F1 comes to mind next as 'hell and back'. Breeden or Walt or the likes could build you a custom knife for around that price though.

Theyll do suprisingly hard work. I bet itll impress you:thumbup:
Sounds like an awesome trip your gearing up for!!

Get the JK- April special ($100) or contact Bryan Breeden. He is around that mark but shipping costs me a bit more cause I'm an Cdn......

I just finished writing Bryan an e-mail telling him what an aweful thing he has done spoiling me on the whole <4" blade category with this one. I'm not sure I'll ever buy another in this size!

for the weight bring 2 moras.. or go for an m2k..ugle has sin but tougher than the standard mora..or try Brian Breeden, Stomper, or DP knives

RR I was thinking of those pics when I made that comment about moras being good for hard work;)

Dang.:p

Another one to consider is Himalayan Imports' R-10. It's within your specified size limit, well within your specified price limit, and, as far as I can tell, indestructible.

+1:thumbup::thumbup:
or you can get a used Bark River. There is at least one in your price range on the for sale by individual forum now.

May be outside you price range, but the Fallkniven H1 is an excellent hunting knife that has also served me well as a bushcraft knife.

Whilst I haven't had the need to use it as a "survival knife" yet, I have absolutely no doubt it would perform well in this role if needed

Kind regards

i also agree that breeden is the way to go my 7 inch blade from him and this thing is built like a tank and still razor sharp after 3 or four camping trips with it
