While I'm sure this design has a name I'm not sure what it is. I came across the shape while cutting out anther knife and the piece left over had this look, I liked it and finished it into the knife up for sale here. The steel is good old 1095 high carbon 1/4" thick with mill run finished flats and steel hollow ground bevels. The hardness is 60 Rc on the edge with the point tempered down to 57Rc. This is a hidden tang design and the tang goes all the way through the handle and bolted to the brass pommel. I keep the tang wide while passing through the brass guard and into the handle before tapering toward the pommel to insure good strength. Spalted mango wood is selected for the handle and lightly dyed. Like Maple, Mango wood is blonde and needs a little color to pop the grain and the grain really pops on this baby. I file worked the spine to provide and artistic jimping. The sheath is 8/9 ounce brown leather with tooling and an integral right hand carry belt loop. I'm always a little worried about a pointy knife like this going through the sheath so there is a Kydex lining to prevent this from happening.
