Huntsman

I want!!!! :D

I almost had a baby Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula back in college, still want one for a shop pet. :) Some day.

You are a sick, sick man Dwayne. Just sick *shudder*

oh heck no!!!!!

Aw come on guys! They're fuzzy and somewhat cute in their own special way! Not like those creepy teddy bears with their unblinking eyes that always seem to be watching, waiting.....

and dont get me started on clowns, shhhhhhhuuuuudddddeeeerrrr

I'm with you Dwayne to a certain extent. We get a lot of these spiders around here in the warmer months and one thing I've learnt is that they are very fragile creatures. It doesn't take much to hurt them or kill them. I have a bit of a soft spot for them, but I'm not that keen on handling them. I've been bitten by them many times and it HURTS!!! So, live and let live, let them do their own thing. They only want to eat other bugs, which is good, because we get millions of them too. Annoying!!

I don't mind spiders if I can see them, but many is the time I've walked unexpectedly through a wall-sized web in a dark tropical forest, and been left wondering whether I've picked up a hitch-hiker.

If there are any Cambodians reading this thread, they're probably licking their lips about now.

Down here in the semi tropics we get the strangest and nastiest bugs I've ever seen before, I kind of wish we had either a legion of good sized spiders or a whole pack of lizards. The worst are the palmetto bugs (think roaches with wings, and friggin huge, the biggest I've seen so far is over 2" long) One of those landing on me will give me the willies for hours.

A wise man say that one can instantly learn Kung Fu when walking through a spider web. :p Worse yet a Golden Orb web, you can nearly hang off one of those. I've seen a sparrow caught in one. One of the crankiest spiders I've ever seen, they jump and twitch the web like crazy at the least provocation.

How much for shipping;)
I want too!

I feel your pain, I want in the worst way, already planning the habitat! :D

They always come in the house after mowing the lawn. This one was hanging out for a few days on the walls.
They run like Usain Bolt!

Aw, c'mon! That one's a tiny mite for an Ozzie spider. Hell, we got 'em that big here in Penn's woods. :):D
This here is a youngin' and he's about 4" tall. :) (The length of the BOSS Street blade I used to measure him)

Rob, that sucker you got there would have me running for a shotty! LOL :D:D

Every day I find another reason why I love Indiana so much.

If you haven't been to Broad Ripple Brew Pub, then go, 'cause here's another reason... Scotch eggs & crawfish pie. :D:thumbup:

I used to live Broad Ripple 3 blocks from all the action. I never had the scotch eggs & crawfish pie though.

This thread gives me the creeps. I have plenty of experience with huntsmans.. All spiders still freak me out..

Snakes too. Doesn't matter if they are poisonous or not. Its the way they move that gets me going...

I have never woken faster, than I have when I have seen a huntman above me when I open my eyes in bed...

Prolly just as well. It's a heartstopper, LOL, but so good! I dunno if they still serve them, it's been over a decade since I've been to Indy. Used to date someone out there for a little while back then...damn woman got me hooked. :D

Rob, That is funny you mentioned the spider inside the car. About a year ago I had just turned on to a busy road and who showed up on my wind screen, a very good size huntsman. I could not let him get away to be lurking in my car. It was then I learned why most Queenslanders wear flip flop.

Couple of weeks ago, I was in the forest in west africa, and as I came towards a river bank, I thought the local fishermen must have left their nets hanging in the trees. As I got closer, I realised they were spiders' webs, each several feet across (although it was difficult to tell where each ended and the next began), and each with hundreds of fairly small spiders crawling in it. I'd never seen anything like that before (and I've seen a lot of trpical forests). The webs were too dense to walk into them without noticing, but you wouldn't want to trip and fall into one by accident.

Rob - that's a pretty spider!
One time on a route march we came across a tarantula migration - one of them crawled up me and rode on my shoulder all weekend.
