Hurricane Harvey. Ok, I understand the stainless traditional thing now

It's awfully hard to go wrong with a SAK as your pocket knife in almost any situation. They are not just a knife, but a pocket size bundle of tools for those unplanned bushwhacks that life throws at us.

My own love of the alox, like my old Wenger SI and pioneer, have lasted almost 50 years now. When I'm heading out the door for a long road trip, camping trip, or something out of the ordinary, I reach for my alox SAK as a pocket companion.
 
rishma, sorry to hear about the horrible situation for you and so many others, I wish you the best.
 
No matter what other knife is clipped to or in my right pocket, the Alox Cadet is always in my left pocket. It's so slim, lightweight & versatile that there's no reason not to carry it.

As I geared up to go deal with this disaster I obviously needed tools and grabbed whatever came to mind. Cutting tools included disposable razor knife, carpet knife, and sak pioneer. Honestly, I have Never loved the pioneer. I don't much care for spear main blades , I like carbon steel and have never been interested in stainless traditionals, but headed into a flooded disaster area it seemed like the perfect tool.

The pioneer has been perfect. Cutting blade, awl for scoring and punching, and flat head screwdriver for lots of things. Tossed back in a wet pocket and ready next time I need it. Great tool. I would not have gotten the same performance from a carbon steel blade under such poor conditions.

I have been fortunate to get help this week and spent today helping friends. It's wonderful to see a community come together.

Can't argue with that kind of real world scenario. Glad to hear everyone is safe, and I hope that your insurance, as well as your community takes good care of you!
 
Most of saks tools are very useful,they never let me down,and its most useful knife all around regardless of price!alox ones are even better!
 
I still like some spydercos and benchmades and some others but victorinox saks is just more useful and better value for money than all those together.
 
Cold steel has some excellent fixed blades and folders for price but sak goes along with it in any kind of emergency!
