Hurricane Katrina

Yes, all those around that area please be safe and helpful to one another. I heard them saying on the news that every future meteorologist will be using Katrina as a study guide. It's suppose to be that bad.

I`m here in georgia and we`re getting real hard rain on and off. How do you change your user name???

I think you have to send SPARK $10 (and what you would like your username to be) and he will do it. I may be wrong though.

Who in the world is spark???

SPARK is the administrator/ owner of this site.

If you have any other questions please put them in the New Thread thread. That way we do not interfere with discussion about Hurricane Katrina. :)

WOW, that was one HE$$ of a hurricane. Down here in Orange Beach, AL we clocked winds at 105 mph and we were 150 miles east of the eyewall. Hope all is well with everyone is across the line into Miss./ Louisiana, as we not only dodged the bullet here, but we dodged a nuke!! Been there and done that last year with IVAN which whipped our a$$ and know the feeling. Best wishes to all HOGS and everyone to the west of me :(

I feel so bad and so stupid for being so glib in a e/m (after we got our power back) about actually enjoying Katrina.

Katrina hit due east of my house(Hollywood Beach), and jogged south pretty much over my neighborhood. We were in the eye for a good bit. Then, the power went out and I heard no more of Katrina till Sat.

I had told Bill (KX1A) that Katrina (then a minimal CAT 1) was like a grease fire in the kitchen compared to a fully engulfed chemical plant (CAT 5). Each step up is like 10x the magnitude. I think we hit 92mph tops. Power loss, some broken limbs, and some missing roof shingles, that's it, not a big deal if you've been through it before.

Aw Jeez man. Just watched the latest on the 6:00 news. Andrew was bad, really bad, but it was here and gone. Those poor souls miseries are just starting. We had total destruction also (ever see a 'bomb hardened' F-16 hangar flattened? I have, at Homestead AFB), but, we also didn't have water up to the rooftops to contend with.

I dunno, I gotta do something and not send money. That won't help much, not if you've ever been in Biloxi in Aug with no AC or no fans. I have. It's too hot to even sleep.

This is beyond desperate.
