Well, I've laid in water and nonperishables, I have candles, lamps, battery radio, and I have my meds set up. Nothing to do now but just wait. It's supposed to be a bad one. I wish everyone in it's path good luck and health.

David,
Unless you are in a low lying area, I doubt you will see much more than some rain.

It is just lightly raining and not windy right now. The track is to go ashore in NJ and then turn north into Canada. They may have more problems in the north than we do here. Even the rain amounts have been dropped for Norfolk. We were looking at around 6", now it is 2-3".
Wind forecast has also been greatly lowered here.

Stacy, that's good news. I had heard it would hit here around noon on Monday and last through Tuesday, with lingering effects on Wednesday. They were talking around 6-10" of rain and sustained winds of 60 mph.

Don't think it will be anything like that.

Right now, the storm is 150-200 miles east of Hatteras Island, NC, and will be a couple hundred miles off the VA coast tomorrow afternoon. It should make landfall early Tuesday AM just north of the Delaware Bay. Storm will be a bare category one at landfall, and then fall down to a post-tropical storm. By Tuesday afternoon it should be around Lancaster/Reading, PA., heading due north.

Currently in Norfolk,we have scattered rain and drizzle, and winds of 10-20 with a few brief gusts of maybe 30. Total rain so far has been about 1/2".

Over in Delaplane, your big rain will probably be tomorrow , with a two day total of about 3". Your wind gusts could be higher than ours because of topography and the storm will actually get closer to you than us. Sustained winds for you should be around 40-45, with some gusts around 60-65.

Storm moved a bit farther east last night, so that is good.

Currently sitting about 275 miles off the NC/VA line. Rest of track with NJ landfall around midnight tonight should be the same.

Rain amounts will be lower for us , but raised a bit for you. You should get about 3-5" total for the whole storm.

Last night we had brief rain bands with light rain between those. Wind has been very light, with few gusts ( right now its dead calm). So far we have had a total of 1.5" of rain. The only local issues have been Nor-Easter flooding at the high tides. Sadly, because of the full moon, we will have five flood stage high tides under this storm. It will only be a foot below Isabelle's flood level this morning. Most estuary and coastal places will see 5-7' above mean low tide. They closed the flood gates on the Midtown tunnel last night due to the water being too high. Probably will keep it closed until tomorrow. A few years back, they didn't get it closed in time ( mechanical problems), and the tunnel flooded completely. Took a month to get it pumped out and repaired.

What may make this a bad storm for the north is that, starting today, the big low coming from Tennessee will merge with Sandy. That will go up into the PA mountains and potentially merge with a large cold system currently coming across Montana. This could make a massive winter system that will be a serious winter storm for New England and the Canadian area and Maritime Provinces. All that will happen Thursday through Sunday.

Nothing happening here yet. Just dark and overcast, light breeze. Little chance of much flooding right here, but the wind concerns me. I have three large trees in the front yard. [and one behind the garage]

Next 24 hours will be interesting, we don't do hurricanes up here!!

STAY SAFE OUT THERE!!!

Randy,
I would prepare for some problems with power and snow in your neck of the woods. Also, a lot of rain to start with.
The three storms will combine about when they get over Lake Ontario/Eire. You all know what that brings.

Has anyone heard from Aldo during the storm? I sure hope he's OK and that our steel isn't getting too rusty.

He doesn't answer his phone. He is a good distance from the sound, so hopefully he should be OK as far as flooding goes. I'll let you know if I hear from him.

David - How did you do?

Many areas don't have any flooding problems but the high winds have taken down huge numbers of trees and with it power lines . We have no power and expect that to last about a week !! Sussex Co NJ is a real disaster I hear . Some places have no generators so you can't get fuel , food or any thing else. I do have phone and internet and a generator for power.

Hi Stacy,

We had high winds and considerable rain for one night, but never even lost power. We were very lucky. I haven't had a chance to check my place in the Shenendoah, but I suspect I will have some damage, hopefully it won't be too bad.

I too was wondering about Also, since he's the only person I know in N.J.

I checked on facebook, Aldo has checked in with someone and he and his family are OK, he was going to try to get to his shop and see how it fared, he does not have power or phone

About 12 hours of 30 - 35 mph winds, gusts around 50 but no real damage. She stayed mostly south of us. Rained every day since. [better than snow yet!]

My thoughts are with those who were'nt as lucky!!!

Now the fun starts. NJ now has odd/even days. There was a shooting in north Jersey. My friend saw a tanker truck trying to get to a gas station but those on line refused to move !!! If you go at 2 or 3 am there are NO lines but they won't do that !

My Buddy was on line at 3:45AM with his car. I got on line with 4 gas cans at 6:30AM. They opened the station at 10:30AM and were out of gas in 3 hours. If I figure out my rate per hour you won't believe what a gallon ended up costing me. We'll be back at it in 3 days if we conserve. Odd and Even days are going to cause riots. Whoever came up with this one is a PUTTS.

Aldo, Mete, good luck!
Aldo, once you are back up and running let me know and I'll order some CPM154

The nice thing at least for those of us who forge, a little rust just blends with the rest of the scale that collects on the floor around the anvil ;)

I like that Page; there's always an upside.

Good to hear you're OK Aldo!

Keep an eye out for the possible Nor-Easter coming to the east coast on Wednesday. Stay safe.
