I think my delima is solved! I had an old tri-stone kit with fine+med arkansas stones and a course. The base has been gone for years. The stones are 2" by 6". I pried the stones off the base,(the fine stone broke at an angle and is 3"-4" now). I filed the sharp edges off. I'm going to get a 2' by 1" piece of balsa, cut it to size, and glue the stone for a handle. I don't know how well it will work, but I think it is worth a try.
I will hopefully be ordering the axe today or tomorrow as soon as the card gets the money in. Will get back when it arrives.
