Husqvarna Carpenters Axe

I forgot to tell you, that 'poor mans file jig' is great. I'll have to remember that. It is definitely a good example of the KISS Principle in action.

Keep It Simple Stupid(or Straightforward)

Thank you for this fine write up! The Carpenters Axe is next on my list of "must" have's, to round off my Husky collection.
Your description of how and why the re-profile is great and so is the photography.

A man can never own too many axes. ;) Hope you will be satisfied with your Husky collection. Thank you!

I love my husky carpenter! Best buy for sure. The poor factory edge was almost a bonus since it forced me to put the edge I really wanted on it. And it has held and ultra thin edge amazingly, not even the slightest nick or roll. Its very impressive steel for any price point. Anyone who purchases one with not be disappointed for the price, or even more than the price.

Great work! I am getting better at sharpening, but if I tried to re-profile the edge I'd probably destroy it.

Thank you, you are very welcome. I'm glad if this thread was to any help!

Believe me, this thread is gold in many ways for someone with my level of axe sharpening skills. I came within a hair of ordering that same axe a few days ago, and I just might yet. :)

I know this thread is a little old, but does anyone know who is making the current Husqvarna Carpenter's Axe? I just picked one up and it doesn't have the markings on the side of the head like my other Husky's do. Also it has some odd number scribed in to the side of the head. I've never seen that before.

I have one due to arrive on Friday and this thread is old but timely for my needs. The reprofiling you did will likely be replicated on mine. Excited to get it and feel better about ordering it after the positive comments about the product.

Hultafors currently makes Husqvarna axes.
