husqvarna hatchet disappointment w/pics. what would you do?

Return it and buy a real Wetterlings, You can find them for less than double of what you paid for that. Quality is top notcn

Well for what you have invested in it, sharpen it up, give it a proper grind and use the snot out of it if they wont exchange. Even though its not exactly what you want it will still be servicable without too much effort. Sucks it happened try and make the best out of it

The hatchet you linked to on the husqvarna site is part no 502 64 02-01, Hatchet (13" - 1 1/2 lbs). It seems to me that if that's the part no you ordered - that's not what you got. And the special order business does not apply. If they sent you a garden hoe, would they say sorry, special order...?

It's my understanding that Husqvarna contracts from several manufactures in Sweden. I remember reading somewhere that Husqvarna was in the process of changing several months ago, and you may have just gotten in on the front end of their changover.
It still looks vastly better than the Mexican stuff does and that is all you can find in stores around here! I say sell it and buy a what you want, but if it was me, I would profile it like I want and use it! Then again I have power equipment to make reprofiling easier.

well, i guess i'm stuck with it.
they say it's the "new" style. the pic on the husqvarna site is an "old" pic.
it's not the dealer, it's husqvarna.

Sounds like poor customer service on Husky's part, not allowing a return when the item was not as pictured. Maybe an email to their customer service department would resolve this.

Meanwhile, some of the old Wetterlings-style ones are still available online.
A search brought up several sources, one with free shipping and only 8 remaining.

I'll second that thought.

FWIW, I've got one of the Wetterlings-made hatchets, and it's really nice. Not that the tool you recvd. isn't nice, but........I'd definitely prefer the SAW made one. I'm lucky in that I have a local dealer with a handful of each on hand (well, they had several of each when I bought mine, anyways).

That is the definition of bait and switch - emphasized by the dealer when they failed to let you return it. They are obviously not a reputable nor responsible party to deal with.

Bait and switch is when something is advertised to get customers in the store then the salesperson tries to get the customer to switch to something that is more profitable. Not used much these days, except maybe a little by car dealers. Buyers tend to lash back on that technique.
