HWK In Cocobolo And Leather

That's a really beautiful knife. I love everything about it.

About using cocobolo, be aware that it's a sensitizer and if you aren't allergic to it now, you may be later with more and more exposure. I know of a few guitar builders who can't use it or other rosewoods after being exposed so many times.

Perhaps nitrile gloves might be a good idea? Just me being cautious. I'd hate for you to develop a reaction to a wood that you love using so much.

I would make the bottom of the blade, even with the grips. Just my 2$.

HornyToad you dog!!!!! Thats a kick ass blade bro!!

I love me some Laconicos!

Ray, I want leather for that Bowie then!! Lemme know the cost differance...

There are some good knife makers around here but after looking at Ray's site and all of his knife posts, you can tell he has real artistic talent. Everything is very clean and sharp (no pun intended, well maybe) on his knives. Very classy. My only fear is that I will be afraid to get a scratch on them and they become safe queens.

I hear ya on that man. I constantly clean mine up to new looking after use. :o

Rays stuff is awesome, pictures dont do it justice. Once you get a blade of his in your hands, you are hooked!

I'll be doing a few leather sheaths now and then when I feel that a certain knife would go better with leather.. I was going to just do kydex but so many people ask me for leather. Also, I think natural handle materials look better with leather.

Ray, you do very nice sheaths, they compliment your knives perfectly. It is a pain compared to kydex, though, I do imagine.

And cocobolo does stink! :barf:

That first knife looks just right. Clean and straightforward, form and function. Well done.

I don't think you can make an HWK look bad. I am not fond of wood scales, but that looks great. The leather is a really nice embellishment too. I need to order another one of these someday.

Wow, Ray, just beautiful:thumbup:
I really like all your knives, this one is speaking to me though:D
