Hybrid bicycle recommendation?

LOL in a few weeks your wife will have you commited for speaking bike parts jargon all the time :D

I am in the market for a bike, so I thought I would bump this thread back to the top.

I don't have a lot of money to spend. I will ride mostly on pavement, but road bikes are generally out of my price range.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Trek 820.

I picked up not one but two bikes in the last month... I too had questions and hem hawed for a long while. I was at a hydrolics parts store getting a part for a rather specialized hobby. The counter guy razed me a bit so I asked him what his hobby was and he said bikes. I ended up going to his guys store in town and getting a new cannondale hybrid ,an adventure 400 I think it is. He also turned me on to a used raleigh m-80 mountain bike that a regular customer of his had. The salesman/owner actually told me to buy the other bike instead to start with. You might talk to the owner of the bike shop in town and see if you can get a deal. I got that m-80 that is in GREAT shape for 125.00- it had a couple hundred dollars in upgrades done to it in the last year or so. I happen to need the big frame bikes so maybe they are harder to move when you want to sell used I am not sure. There is a difference riding the mountain bike verses the hybrid. I like both so far but see them as knives or golf clubs-different uses for each. These will do what I need for now. I also recomend the bike shop at least my experience has been good and the price for the cannondale was within 50.00 of an online house so I figure it is money well spent. I have already been back once for an adjustment. Oh and both mine were made in the U.S.A well at least the frames and the assembly! God Bless-paul
