Hydraulic press question for guru.

Yes I took a look at both. Surplus center has prices higher than I found.
As for Press design.. H beam looks handy except weak upper console. It has a 5-6" lever that must hold all force. The force will twist the slide. It should not clinch if lubricated and is long enough, but mechanically it is not very good IMHO.
I thought about two rails frame. It has some limitations aswell but it is more mechanicaly balanced.
Well, anyway I have to adjust my design to the metall pieces I can get from the local suppliers.

I have a single phase 5 HP GE 220 volt motor on my metal lathe (custom built LeBlond) and it works beautifully I think I have it on a 30 amp circuit breaker and it works like a champ. you do not need 3 phase to run 5 hp, you just have to look harder for your motor.
