Hypocrisy: I'm guilty... minor rant

Meh. I had an Ultratech, didn't care for it. I don't really dig Microtechs, nor do I care for their practices. After a disappointing experience with the knife, and an odd meeting with Marfione at Blade, I see no reason to give them my money.

Also OP, it seems you need to see the distinction between hypocrisy and just changing your mind. My opinion changes all the time, there's nothing wrong with it.

I've been staying away from MT for the same reason. Leaning toward Hogue, just wish their autos came with a stonewashed blade.

I don't buy Microtechs for the same reason I don't buy Striders. They don't appeal to me. The fact that this keeps me from putting money in the pockets of low lifes is just icing on the cake.

 Took the words right out of my mouth. Although even if I did find strider or microtech designs appealing I still wouldn't buy them.

I have plenty of knives, I no longer need any new knives. At this point who I am buying from is just as important as what I am buying.

I have a long list of makers that I, for various reasons, won' buy from.
About 6-7 of the major makers are so far on it.
The more I read up on knives, the longer it gets...
My reasoning for putting them on my list could very well be seen as petty, minute or simply stupid.
That's fine with me, my reasons are for me, noone else

In all honesty though, I broke my own principles once.
I will not keep it though.
As luck would have it, I have others that performs better.
My brother will hopefully enjoy it mote than I did, it will be gifted to him.

No big deal. OTF's don't quite have the variety of folding knives so I can understand your predicament. Do you like them for the cool factor? I kinda assumed that's why people like them but maybe there's something I'm overlooking.

I'm looking into buying an OTF partially for the cool factor, but also because it's the easiest to open and close one handed. To me it seems like a folding auto has no advantages over an assisted opening knife. The only folding auto I'm considering is the lever lock, and that would be 100% for cool factor :D

My issue with assisted opens is that you still have to apply a good amount of pressure to open them, same as a good detent on a manual folder. So why not just be able to push a button?

I draw the line at "Conflict Knives." I won't buy any knife produced with slave labor in some African or Asian hellhole. ;)

Right on bro. Give me a knife produced with good old American slave labor in an American hellhole any day.

From the context of what many of y'all wrote, I think y'all may have meant principle and not principal.

Grammar police out! ;)

It could be worse. You didn't sell your body on the street corner or rob an old granny to fund the knife did you?

I cosign. MT's in particular.

Yeah, I understand that it's easier to push a button, and I do like that; the downside is the resistance of the blade when you have to close it.

Same reason I won't buy a new Microtech. Actually have been looking for a Microtech clone - I figured this would actually COST them money.

I'm in Texas and got a "Lightning" recently just to have one to goof off with. It's certainly nothing fancy, but I got one to exercise some reclaimed civil liberties, and it's certainly a clone of a MT model.
