hypothetical question... de-carb

Ok, this is just a hypothetical question. Say you have a blade that has been de-carbed, could you "re-carb" it? Like case hardening?
I know the answer to this is just to grind the de-carb off, I'm just curious if its possible.

Yes but it's hard to know just how much carbon you put back in.
