Hi every one.
So I’ve been working on several executive protection assignments recently all over the Mexico, and sometimes in the US. I’m looking for a small fixed blade to carry when I’m on the job, I usually carry my other knives on my left side on my belt (weak side carry). I mostly wear a suit and tie when I’m out on this types of jobs so it need to be small to be concealed , but not too small. The closest thing I’ve seen to what I’m looking for is the Blackhawk Kalista Knife, but I’m not that impressed whit the quality of the Taiwanese knife.:grumpy:

I’m open to custom or semi costume knives and I’m wiling to spend about 350 dollars. Any ideas?

A few possibilities, couple Busses.

I forgot this models name, cost apx $250. Ugly, but very capable.

I'm probably not all that qualified to make suggestions for the type of work you're doing and don't know your specific requirements so my suggestions will be limited, but I'll throw my two cents in. If you can use something sharp, pointy and double edged, what first comes to my mind, mostly because I own one is the Fallkniven G1. It's not very expensive and, in my opinion, well made. Fallkniven also makes a WM1 which is also a small more utilitarian type of single edged knife. I''m sure you'll get lots of suggestions, but others that come to mind and are small and not "mean" looking are the ESEE Izula and Busse Skeleton Warden. You can see these knives on their respective web sites. Look into all the different neck knives made. They're usually relatively small and can be carried a number of ways besides around the neck. Murray Carter makes some very nice, though at the top of your price range, utilitarian neck knives - he can do custom knives too. There are a number of excellent knife makers active here on Blade Forums that could probably make a knife to your specifications in your price range. Many can also make a custom Kydex or leather sheath also. Depending on your blade care habits, you may or may not want to look at something that is stain resistant. If you're a bit more specific about what you need, I'm sure you'll get some very specific suggestions. Hope this helps a bit.

I would suggest a custom. Get the size and shape you want. You might want to contact mykulmorris. He is a member here, a custom maker and does great work at very reasonable prices. Much less than your limit. His Pocket Filers are very nice small knives, and the kydex pocket sheaths he includes for them would work well with a suit.

You could get approximately nine Becker BK-11 or BK-14s or maybe one with some nice micarta scales and pocket the rest of your leftover cash. If you want to spend more though - have at it!

Ive been pretty happy with my crkt Sting, you can pick one up at around the 30$ price point if you look around. inside the belt carry has been working great for me. my only complaint is that it came rather dull.

When wearing the monkey suit I'll go with the Boss if I'm looking for some extra leverage, and a AD if I just need a strong fixed blade. My need for a fixed blade is for slipping a door or lifting a interior door off it's hinge. Both blades are thick, AD can be had at .190" and the Boss can be had at the .220" thickness. Also, both have lanyard holes and are relatively flat type knives. Also, both have extended metal at the end of the handles for breaking glass or "hammering". I carry in front of my mag pouch, Inside The Waistband (IWB) with a single loop of 550 cord, so printing is not a issue.
The Boss can be found on the secondary market (I would also call the Busse shop and see what they may have in the shop), and the .190" AD can be had on the secondary market. I use kydex sheaths for their slimness and their ability to shed sweat. Hope this helps.

For a small fixed blade, my 2 choices would be:

ZT 0121
ZT 0150

Whatever you choose, my suggestion is to stay away from knives that are generally suggested for outdoors or utility uses. Those knives tend to have thicker grinds and won't cut nearly as well for combat applications as thinner, pointier knives will. For instance, Busse knives are great for taking abuse and asking for more. That doesn't seem relevant to combat applications more so than a multi-purpose type of blade where you may need to cut or pry or baton with one tool. Of course, I'm not suggesting that you carry anything fragile, but excessive thickness or blade shapes that are ideal for wood may not be ideal for attacking people.

Steel should be a secondary concern, so long as the blade is well made. AUS8 should be fine. There's no good reason to demand the latest and greatest steels (not suggesting that you've "demanded" anything). Depending on your size requirements, I'd second the suggestion about the ZT 0150 or look into customs.
