I’m looking to add to my DVD library. What are the must have classics ?

I wouldn't buy another DVD. You will just look to replace it with BR or whatever hi-def streaming/download that comes next.

I’m actually very fond of having movies in any format; I have a few VHS movies and even a few Beta format movies I keep for nostalgic reasons. I’m a hoarder.

Anything by George Romero, Dario Argento and Sam Raimi ( The Evil Dead series not spiderman so much).

The Cowboys, with John Wayne
Any Kirosawa flick, ex: The Idiot, Seven Samurai, etc.
Bad day at Black Rock with Spencer Tracy
Bridge on the River Kwai
the list is long, but these seem overlooked.

Classics? Hmm looks like most of the recommendations are classic.. classic and mostly boring, cept M67 had some good ones.. You want classic hollywood crap or classic art house or classic independent.. classic? wth does that mean anyway..

Streaming netflix is good, but having originals with artwork is nice too, besides we support the movie moreso if we purchase it, and some of us like collecting things.. like knives :D

Partial classic list (in no real order):

Taxi Driver
Sin City
Apocalypse Now (not the redumb version..)
Godfather series
Machete
Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill 1 & 2
City of God
Full Metal Jacket
Tetsuo
Old Boy
Bad Lieutenent
Pans Labyrinth
Fast Times at Ridgemont
Supertroopers
Ichi
Brazil
Blade Runner
Quills
Wild at Heart
Spun
Requiem for a Dream
Naked Lunch
Usual Suspects
Blue Velvet
Deer Hunter

My list goes on and on too.. I had hundreds of dvds, now just a couple hundred left. My list gets way more subverted and disturbing, these are just the go to for general public :D (no I don't mean porn, I don't do that stupid crap.)
