Hello, buddies

I have had some very, very busy days lately as I am taking care of my mother who has been a bit sick lately, but happily is on the way to recover now, and also have become the publisher of the first printed magazine about knives in Brazil - an old project whose time has come and is becoming a great success even before the first issue hits the newsstands!
Due to these factors I have been a bit distant from the shop lately and this big blade ended up in the banch for way longer than expected - as a matter of fact, I never got a project so delayed like this one. It has 3/16" thick, 9 1/2" sellectivelly heat treated 5160 blade and resin soaked, black over black cord wrapped handle with an abstract stingray made of wood in it on both sides, and my usual gold dog´s head on it. This one is way faster than my 1/4" choppers and balances very well. Let me know how you liek it buddies!
One more thing - this year I am returning to Blade and will be glad to meet you all there! I´ll be at table D2 with my friend Gustavo Vilar.

I wondered why we had not seen you around. Glad to hear, Mother, is recovering well.

Nice chopper and handle. The care you take in your designs and
execution, shows.

Thanks for your comments, buddies.
Mom is doing some fisiotherapy and that is working very well now, after a number of sessions.
The magazine is taking alot of my time and effort but like knifemaking, it is very rewarding. As some of you know, I already own the largest knife show in the country and I really like to think all my efforts with the show and now the magazine will bring a lot of people into our little but steadily growing custom knife comunity.
And about the knife, this one will probably be my last order for a large knife in a while as I am more interested in pocket-sized fixed blades lately.

Ivan, glad to hear that your mother is doing well, I was fortunate enough to get one of your last HBS knives and could not be happier. Hope you can get back to knife making soon, good luck with the publication.

John

Thanks for the nice words, buddies.
Just to clarify, I have not stopped making knives, just stopped making LARGE camp knives and started dedicating myself to compact fixed blades, though I have a few pending orders of large knives to deliver.
