Ok... can you believe this kid I work with had the BALLS to tell me his CRKT M-16 was a better quality knife than my Al Mar SERE 2000??? I was floooooored...I absolutley wanted slap him silly. I had to school him with an article Jeff Randall wrote on the SERE. Then he just walked away all quite...lol

What a Tard:rolleyes:

Why not make the kids day, and just agree with him, if he thinks he has the best knife in the world, so be it. At least he is happy with it, and probably takes good care of it. Why do you care what he thinks of your knife anyway?

happy kid,
Jonathan

Why not prove him wrong...

Each of you grab your knife and have the other do a "spine-whack" test.

My money is on the CRKT. Have some gauze nearby for your SERE-severed fingers.

Hey, so what! At least it was a CRKT...and a good model at that! It could have been a Spyder ripoff or some other POS! Still, the SERE is super tough...I've hefted so many...can't wait to get my own.

- Yo Crazy Nicky… I prolly woulda bitch slapped the punk assed kid ….but RH’s idea is mad betta….just spine whack the blades offa each other n’ see who gets a finger lopped off first, LOL.  :p ;) Keep it real.

Peace. :)

Don't take offence, should have let him remain excited about his knife. One of my coworkers, about my age, came to work all proud of a chineese knock-off of the CRKT K.I.S.S. he bought from some roadside vendor for "only" $15. He know's I like knives, so he couldn't wait to show it to me. I nodded approvingly and told him it was nice. He asked what I was carrying that day, and I handed him a green bladed, plain edge, LCC-D/A with Ti bolsters and CF scales. He shrugged, said that it was nice too, but that he liked his better, and handed it back. I just smiled and put it back in my pocket. If he's can derive that much pleasure and excitment, out of a $15 knife, then he sure got a better deal than me, why would I want to spoil that for him?

My SERE has never ever failed a spine wack! How could it???

The first 3 SERE's I owned failed the spine whack miserably. You could call it a spine tap and still it would fail..

I gave up on them for a while then bought another and it's rock solid and carried quite often.

The SERE is prone to the same lock failure as any liner lock and for a while they were failing fairly often...

Beauty is really in the eye of the beholder though.

Now maybe people can relate to how a Sebenza fan feels when someone tells him their SERE is a better knife. :) :p

Ok...so based on the spine wack test are you trying to say that M-16 is a better knife that the SERE???? IS the SERE just a POS knife?

Ok...

Ummmm, are you talking to me?

I wasn't sure because no where in my message did I say the SERE was a POS, in fact - I said I own one and carry it quite often.

That's why I felt pretty positive that you weren't talking to me...

I usually don't talk knives with people that don't know about 'em, so I don't often find myself in that situation. If I'm talking to somebody who doesn't know any better, I let them have their fun! If they like their Fury or Master better than my Sere or 710, that's great! No need to get all offended and pissed because they didn't know with all certainty who has the better quality knife. Hell, like JDBraddy said earlier - if they can like their cheapos that much and be that proud of 'em, I wouldn't knock 'em!

Now on the other hand, if your friend knows about a wide variety of knives and differences in tolerances and matierials, etc. then I'd be a little upset! My brother, who knows a LOT about knives, tries to do that all the time to me... I think just to yank my chain. He goes on and on about how his Cold Steel Recon Tanto is WAY better than my Busse Steel Heart! Ah well, we have a lot of funny discussions that way.

Bottom line is - if they are totally "knife ignorant" I let 'em have their fun. If they should know better, I school 'em a little bit.
