I also walk into the 1500....

Was the Wounded Badger refurbished by the Shop beofre it was shot? Why is the ground edge coated?

The STORY behind it's wound isn't a problem. How Aaron came to acquire it is not appropriate for people who don't know the original owner to know. Let's leave it at that.

It was a training excercise with an AD ("Accidental Discharge" for those who don't know the terminology). It saved his life. He is, as one might expect, forever grateful for Busse Quality. It had an Okuden sheath that got shattered in the incident. Okuden replaced it promptly.

I do recall.

Amazing. The Wounded Badger actually changes hands.

HRK, you realize that you cannot simply "sell" a piece of history like that. If that time ever comes, something suitably "epic" must be arranged to coincide with any ... transfer of responsibility. ;)

You are a gentleman and a scholar OP. Couldn't have been communicated better.

Aaron, per our conversation at the show, if you need help to post 360 degree pics so everyone can enjoy with the narrative (without names, departments, or locations), let me know. I'll be in your area later this week.

You guys have gotta see that there are jokes buried deeply in this post. Man I wish I was there. :D

It did exchange hands? I'll echo on the "Post pics"!

I don't know any of it's story, but who wouldn't pay attention to a blade as unique as the Wounded Badger? Congrats on touching a piece of history, hotrodKelley!

Thanks guys. I'll get pictures up as soon as time allows. Hopefully by the weekend. The biggest problem is going to be setting it down long enough to take the pics. LOL

Congrats on scoring a nice knife. The few Busses I have...the SHBA handle edges out everything else in comfort.

Thought I put my last post in this one, but since you quoted me and made a gratuitous assertion, compelled to reply.

There are no jokes in my post. I am trying to protect the personal privacy of all involved because they aren't forumites. Stuff happens to people that just isn't good sometimes. It doesn't need to be replayed here.

Aaron's PC is giving him issues and he might need help with posting pics. No more, no less.

Thanks.

GPB,

I hope you don't think I was attempting to make light of anyone's personal difficulties. Rather, I just thought the reference to the 360 degree pictures might be a joking reference to what HRK had to do in order to get the knife. Often, there are inside jokes littered throughout the posts in this subforum, and being that so many of us HAVE met and have personal histories together, I presumed that this might be one of those times.

I now understand that this is an issue of significant sensitivity, and I apologize if it seemed I was trying to make less of it.

Jason

And btw...Congrats on grabbing a real piece of Busse history, Aaron. You should definitely get a nice display case made for that thing.

No problem Jason, I understand. I don't think you were trying to make light of it per say.

It was a tough situation for everyone involved. Especially the owner that had to sell his life saving gift.

But, the upside is that he is glad it went where it will be appreciated (Aaron) and the story be most appreciated by all the forumites and INFIHOGS here. I'll see if I can get the details absent of names and places and get you guys the full story.

Have a good one.

Ya know...we're all reasonably smart people. I'm sure we all understand how placing too much emotional value on a material object is a bit silly.

That said, I would be heartbroken if I had to sell something with THAT kind of historical and emotional value. Hell...I'm still bothered I sold my Satin/Tiger Sabre because I thought my wife was going to lose her insurance after she goes on maternity leave.

It's sad that the owner had to sell it. I wish him well, whomever he is.

........

No story no pics.

let me get the violin:rolleyes:

this whole thread is BS.

No story no pics.

big deal

move on

1) The original story has been told several times in the past on this forum. Please research accordingly.

The current chapter has been told asking for understanding that this sale was a very painful sale of something that had extreme sentimental and emotional significance, and further revelation of details not be sought.

We should respect that request.

2) Pics will be forthcoming, but as has been explained, HRK is without access to a true computer (I believe he's accessing the net cia phone).

Until he has access, he won't be able to post pics.

Of course HRK could move sell another knife or two and get a heck of a media setup...;) :p
