(overall been learning alot from everyone, so thank you First and Foremost for that!)

Just trying to clear this up, since i was redirected twice after reading posting guidelines then was unable to list anything for sale or trade.

So the website tells me that I can only list for sale if I'm a paying member, but i can trade.

I go to the trade forum and it says oh because of "abuse" we don't allow anyone but paying member to list for trade or sale.

Maybe clear up that so you don't waste anymore of anyone else' time.

Overall just disappointed about this lacking feature. ZERO of the car forums I am on require "Subscriptions" to list things for sale. Ridiculous for the average internet user IMHO. To each forum operator their own.

Basic members cannot even reply to the for sale threads.. How unworkable! Even a paid membership.... Weak sauce.

Let mods know or whoever and I'm sure someone will look at it. But how much time was really wasted having to read two different documents?? Anyway, easiest way around it is to get a paid membership ;)

Anyway, welcome regardless!!

Welcome to Bladeforums.
Yes, in order to trade or sell anything at al on here, you have to pay for a memberhip. It's very clearly spelled out in the FAQ section (Frequently Asked Questions), located at the very top of every single page of the forums.

The Rules for the Exchange are also very clearly outlined:

There are sticky'd threads (yellow in color at the top of ever discussion list), again with a lot of useful information. Again, this stuff only works when someone reads it. We see more people breeze right by these things, time and time again. They do not want to bother to spend a couple minutes to learn what is and is not allowed. Then, they complain because they claim they didn't know. I mean, where else can we post these things so that everyone can see them?

So what can you do as a registered user? You can participate in discussions, you can read forums about everything you can think of including knife making and ask questions all for free. You can trade, but you cannot initiate a trade, you can buy items, but you cannot sell them. That is what you get currently for free. I'd say that is pretty good considering some places charge for that.

Seems fairly clear to me: (cut and pasted)

You may respond to threads where you mean to purchase an item, or trade. You are not allowed to create threads for Selling or Trading (but you may respond to existing ads). You do have the ability to create Want To Buy threads.

Again! Sorry Rev, you beat me to it, and with a much more thorough explanation.

And yes, it's impossible not to see the amazing value in at least a gold membership here, BF is just about anything and everything in the world of knives. It's a bargain, and it costs money to keep the lights on.

I got that $30.00 investment back on my first sale anyway......

I'm glad I got to meet the RevDevil first, thanks for pointing out all the site offers for free. I was a little confused, but after re-reading what you posted I think i got the hang of it. I was getting confused with a basic member and registered users. I had a hard time believing even a paid membership wouldn't allow you to post in the trade section, so now that makes a little bit more sense.

I appreciate you condescending story about people breezing right past things in the stickies. Obviously I had posted the same fN sticky you did, which to me is funny, both because of your story, and because what i needed to read was in there all along!

Also i am a cheap fucking bastard, so i am not going to pay now... but one day i just might.

Thanks again

Clinton

For all the information you get and everything you learn from this forum, the $30 membership is well worth it. At first i was iffy to about paying $30 to use certain features here, but now that ive been here for a few months it was well worth it. Ive gained so much knowledge from people about knives, ive had opportunities to buy knives that youll never find in stores or dealers. Found all types of different services. Have sold and bought many different knives and other random things. In my opinion being a member on this forum is worth every penny?

You can join here and just read posts OR

you can become a member of a great community, that my friend will cost you a few bucks. $10 to be exact!!

You get what you pay for.........................

Take my advise and remove the offensive language from your posts as this is a family friendly forum.

There is alot of free information on this site and there are obvious perks to having a membership...but the biggest perk is buying in my opinion and you do not need to be a paying member to do that.

No worries. Being a cheapskate is not against the rules, but it you do get what you pay for. Also, one final request, please keep he language family friendly. Lots of kids and their families click though links and we want this place to be a good example for our hobby. That said, if I can be of help or any mod for that matter, simply let us know and we'll be happy to do what we can to help you out.
Enjoy yourself.

imo part of paying for a nominal membership fee not only keeps this site functioning but with regards to the exchange, it weeds out "some" of the crooks that would spam fake deals across countless accounts. actually another forum exchange program i was a part of had everyone need to have verified id's and addresses via paypal and ebay so that it further limitted scamming in addition to requiring a fee.

I agree. I think the fee weeds out some of the riffraff. . .

At one time, the Political Arena was a real garbage dump. Trolls would call their friends to join them here, As soon as they were banned, they registered a new account and jumped right back in. Spark changed it to paid members only which Basic would get you. After that, they wouldn't pay for a few troll posts and the forum settled down a lot.
