Very interested in the SR2a. Fits my size/weight criteria for an EDC. I have never heard of this company til recently. Would love to hear experience from current owners.

Had one. Truely quailty built. Lock up is rock solid, zero blade play, Sleipner steel is fantastic. The cons for me were small handle and don't like slick aluminum scales. A very great knife otherwise. Currently have a DPX HEST and is of the same quality. Pro's of the HEST to the SR2A bigger grip, like blade shape better and g10. Both have great steels but hink the HEST is German D2. As thick as they are their accually great slicers also. Strongly built slicers. Can't go wrong with either.

How big of a grip do you like? It looks to be about the same as a 940.

I have an SR1A (bigger version) and I love it, but I agree, the handles are way too slippery. They're like a gentlemen's folder that you could press in to hard use if you need to. I tend to prefer the DPx HEST/F over the SR1A, honestly, but it depends on what you want to use it for. I would recommend the Spyderco LionSpy which is an SR1 with a Spydiehole and Titanium/G10 frame/scales but they don't make that in the smaller size.

Solid, smooth, well made, thick blade flies open. Handle is indeed slippery. I have the SR1A and my coworker has the SR2A. The SR2 is a tad small but I can still get 4 fingers on it and I wear X and XL gloves.

The DPX Hest looks to be heavier than the SR2a. I'm not looking for a "hard use" knife. I"m looking for a really good knife for EDC that won't fall apart if it is used hard one day. lol

Don't worry, the SR series feels like it would last a few lifetimes.

I had an SR-1A. Great knife, just a little too slippery IMO. I have an Opera in Cocobolo (D2) and is a great little knife. I carry it when I'm wearing a suit or slacks.

I've been lusting after an SR2a for a while now. According to USPS tracking there's one waiting in my mailbox for me as we speak. I've been watching Lionsteel since I've been on this forum and they are really bringing their game. Quality materials and top shelf fit and finish. My only worry is that the SR2a might increase my need for a TM1.

I do like bigger grips. Can't a good grip on 4" grips. I think the grip on the SR2a is about the length of BM 585 it's short but wide across not thick like though it's slim. Think the dimensions are 4"x1.25"x0.40". If you got smaller hands it'll be great for you sold it to my step dad and he loves it has smaller hands.Maybe get the SR1a with Sleipner bigger grip and blade. Actually found pics with the two together.

Good to know. I wish they offered blade replacement ala Benchmade. :)

Noted.

Please post pics and thoughts or PM me about it.

I like a longer handle as well as I have large hands. But I also like a lighter knife for EDC. I have found that a handle around 4 inches is good enough for me for EDC without getting too heavy.

FYI, even the larger SR1A weighs a respectable 5.4oz according to my digital scale. I consider that acceptable for such a heavy duty knife.

Yep. Smaller edc, hard use absolutely capable. SR2a sounds what your looking for. The HEST is heavier, bigger handle, same length blade.

I work in an office and wear khakis daily. I would like to get a knife that I can EDC in both jeans and khakis that has a 4 inch handle. The 940 does well in that area. I just love the overall design of the Lionsteel and would like to try a framelock.

I have the SR2 in titanium, so I can't comment on the reported slipperiness of the aluminum. But I can tell you it's a gorgeous and solid piece of functional art. The handle shape is very satisfying, more than you would expect for a smaller knife. Feels really good to use and the Sleipner takes a really nice edge and of course holds it well. It's easily one of my favorite knives to carry and use. Just beware that Sleipner will stain. I got some spots on mine after a hot day in my waistband, which usually wouldn't bother me because I see it as sort of putting my signature on the knife and claiming it as mine. In this case, the finish is so nice that I just can't help but feel the need to keep it polished which is really no big deal.

I think they are going to make a mini version

Proud owner of an SR-1 here. I have the aluminum with a black blade. I love it, opens very smoothly and the steel is great, super edge retention, and not that hard to bring back once you have dulled it. My only dislike is the blade profile, yes the aluminum is slick but has vertical texturing, and it does OK in damp conditions. But the blade on both knives is very thick from edge to spine. If it lost a whole 1/4" in this blade depth it wouldn't be too much IMO-I judge a knifes usefulness a lot based on how it would do field dressing a deer, and the blade profile on this one is just to thick (deep?) for my liking.

A great knife though, and if your standards for blade profile are different, I'm sure it would make you happy.

Honestly, I don't skin very many deer these days. When I buy a knife I like to look at its general purpose first which would be EDC but I would like for it's secondary purpose to fulfil other needs that I might have such as preparing game/fish (i'm more of a fisherman these days than a hunter), working outside, etc. So although it may be a bit thick it would get the job done in a pinch?
