I am about to order a Lionsteel; give me some opinions.

LionSpy vs. SR1A.

Definitely get the job done. I do like it a lot, just had to tell my whole perspective. If the blade shape works for you, than the knife itself surely will! It remains a high quality piece, that I am glad to have in my collection. I will make one other comment, with titanium handle scales--or more appropriately said as body for this knife as it is a mono-chassis, I had one for a while and just couldn't justify the expense over my aluminum example. YMMV--Regards--Don

Yeah I dont really see the difference. Weight isn't a factor to me, ITs a work knife. ID honestly rather have the weight than not.

I have had an SR2A for about a month now. I have to agree with everyone on the slippery handles. I'm in Louisiana and tend to sweat a lot, so it's not a knife I use in outdoor situations. Kind of become an office/church knife. But fit and finish is perfect and it is solid as a tank. Considering trading/selling it actually.

I was born and raised in Louisiana. Man, I wish I could handle one of these before buying. I don't like "grippy" knives at all. lol

Please post pics and thoughts or PM me about it.

Well I got it. You mentioned liking the 940 so I took a couple comparison pics to give you a better idea of its size.

My initial impression is very good. It's a little smaller than I thought it would be but not too small. It feels quite solid. Fit and finish it quite good. I can see how it could be slippery if wet, but I rarely use a folder for anything outdoorsie so it's not a concern for me. Man, I say if you like this knife pick one up. I doubt you will be disappointed but if you do decide you don't like it they tend to sell quickly on the exchange for minimal loss in value. Speaking of which, there's one there now.

I am a big fan of the sr1 and the lionspy.. Great size great blades.

The SR1 fits my hand so well I decided to pass on the SR2.

The DPX doesnt have a steel insert on the lock and this is its biggest downside. I found it too small and sold mine in a short period...

Steel insert on the lock face can be changed. SR-2A is an aluminum frame lock and like the titanium best to have steel on steel contact for blade to frame. Ergal aluminum is as strong as steel. It is slippier than the titanium one.

Lil LionSpy is coming in the next few months. It's the size of the SR-2 and like it's older sibling one side is titanium frame lock and the other contoured 3D G-10. Both LionSpy are in Elmax.

All SR-1 Titanium and both SR-2 Titanium and Aluminum have Sleipner tool steel. Tough, holds an edge and easy to sharpen. It's not stainless but has fairly good corrosion resistance.

SR-1 Aluminum uses Bohler K110 which is their name for D2.

Had it. Sold it.

Loved the d2 blade shape. That's the plus side. On the negatives, I thought the handle was too slick, the lock bar was so sticky I needed a tool to pry it free (regardless of putting sharpie or graphite on the tang or insert) & the locking disc engaged too easily (to the point of being annoying).

I was disappointed. Thought I was going to love the knife, but this experience soured me on the brand.

EDIT: The knife referred to above was a SR1A.

Any problems with the finish for every day pocket carry with SR1 or SR2?

The LionSteel Team (notice how small the company is):

I don't have a big sample to base my opinions on (TiSpine, DPX Hest and a damascus Mini Olive) but here goes. Build quality is superb, locks are great but on the HEST and TiSpine I spent a lot of time getting the bevel down to something I can touch up with my Sharpmaker (even to get the 40 degree slots to hit the edge). That has, unfortunately, put me off buying any more. YMMV.

I have an orange aluminum SR2 and very pleased with it.
I don't think the handle is too slippery, but it probably could be if you sweat easily.
My hand also fits the handle like a glove, if you have big hands that could be a problem (in that case the SR1 could be an option)
The knife itself is build like a tank and for me the ideal size.
It has a low carry clip and the knife has some weight to it, but isn't too heavy.
