This combo includes two items:

Fixed Blade: Blade length under 5 inches, good sheath, good steel and under a $100.

SAK: Pioneer vs. Farmer, include reasons why.

So feel free to share your suggestions or even your own personal combos

Welcome. Is this fixed blade different from the fixed blade you were asking about in your other thread from a couple hours ago?

Anyhoo...A Vic Farmer is probably all the knife you will ever need.

Thanks, spydercobenchmadekai, as usual, and yes it could very well be the same or different. I just want to see what you personally would or do use.

If you want a necker, BK14.

If you want a mid-size, BK17.

If you want a chopper, BK9.

If you don't want any, there's something wrong with you. :p

Well, if you truly want a "bushcraft" knife, a scandi grind is the way to go. Seriously, if you want to get into bushcraft I'd recommend a simple Mora.

Victorinox models you listed I don't have, but I'd recommend the Trekker one handed opener.

Oh, and ESEE is good too. They just cost a little more, and offer a slightly better warranty.

Here is my ESEE 6:

ETA: Moras are great for starting out. This model can be had for $10:

Victorinox Farmer fits right into the pocket on the sheath of the Becker BK16... So yeah, that's your combination right there :).

^The 17 is flat ground and has a clip point blade whereas the 16 is FULL flat ground and has a drop point blade.

for woods survival/ bushcraft, I still think the old Nesmuk Trio is the way to go. I usually toss in a Sven saw as well. My choice is a sturdy 6 inch blade, a SAK Trekker, my little Wetterlings 12 inch handle ax, and the Sven.

Would this fixed blade be the same or different than the medium sized fixed blade, best bushcraft knife and Becker that you've asked about?

There are a lot of cool medium sized knives that will work well for you. Moras or Condor if you want to keep the price low; Bark River, Spyderco, Fallkniven, ESEE, Becker and so on.

Any SAK with a saw is good. I like the awl on the alox models, so that's what I usually carry (Farmer or Electrician Plus).

I'm with Mannlicher - For $100, grab a Mora, alox farmer and a sven saw with $$ to spare. Add a Swedish firesteel and a cheap walmart tarp and get in the woods.
