Lately I havent been looking very much into Buck Knives but today I went to take a look at the website to revive old memories etc.....now WHAT THE **** HAPPENED TO THE BUCK GENERAL?. I know that you are doing a lot og collabrations and that is good but you should not forget about the knives that got the whole thing started.....ok I know that the knife could be missing from the website due to other things than being discontinued but I kind of doubt that.....rant-mode off!

Could someone clarify this situation?

The answer is very simple. Knives which do not sell well enough to justify the expense of production and marketing are eliminated to make time and room for new models which may sell better. It is no different than the situation with cars, breakfast cereal or any other commodity. In the final analysis, it really is that simple.
We traditional Buck fans cringe when favorite models are discontinued and I share your feelings about the General. It is a terrific camp / kitchen type knife. I understand there were many soldiers who carried the model in Viet Nam.

Yes the General was discontinued.

We have divided our products into consumer use cagtegories and that helps us drive which category needs development or which needs trimming.

Hunting, Outdoor Rec, Tactical, Everyday Carry and Limited Editions

It does get difficult sometimes as products cross over between categories and work or play.

The #120 General was in our hunting category. It was not selling as well and the Special #119 was deemed so close that it would not be missed much...

We had to make room for our Alpha series and some of the new tactical designs.

We still retain parts and a small inventory for warranty work and replacement.

Thank you CJ for clarifying the situation. I can see what you mean but it still hurts to see one of the old designs being discontinued.
