Hey guys, I have never held or even seen a DPX folder in person, but I don't recall reading anything negative about their quality. I called a dealer a few minutes ago and he said he could order one for 180 bucks. The one I want has a niolox blade, I have no experience with that kind of steel, any info on that would be appreciated. Any good or bad info on this company would helpful. Would you pass or go on this knife?

DPX folders are made in Maniago, Italy by LionSteel. The fit-and-finish is above average for the price point. Very well designed and made knives.

However, do some research on the owner and designer of DPx: Robert Young Pelton

He has a bit of "history" on these forums....

Yeah, I read the owner has a not so pleasant history.

I've bought 3. Hard to find a ti/ g10, solid, good steel, dlc coated folder for under 200. With that said, the all ti version is very smooth.

What about the roto lock?
Is this practical?
So far it has kept me away from the hest... The new urban version appeals me better because it doesn't have this roto lock...

I don't see why it should keep you away from the HEST.
The HEST locks up nice and solid without engaging the roto lock, you don't have to engage it if you don't want to.
I honestly don't even notice it's there the majority of the time.

I love the HEST. If the blade were a tiny bit thinner it would be perfect.

It s just that I don't want on my knives something I won't use/need
It's just me ;)

Niolox is some good stuff. Roto lock is gimmicky but the best of all out there. Locks up tight. I have the LE T3 folder n love it.

ive owned 3 different ones though my knife collecting. All have been d2 steel blades. 1st one had a pretty stiff opening, but the later 2 were really smooth. My 2nd one was used alot and when the lock got over to about 60-70% lockup, the roto lock would move around freely. Not a big problem but sometimes it would lock it open when trying to close it.
Other then that no other problems. They are one of the best in that price range imo. And there customer service, warrenty, and team are top notch. The best customer service i have experienced with any company along with ZT. They replaced mine with the loose rotolock for free, even after i told them that i bought it used on bladeforums and i wasnt the original owner. I also told them i had a od one (more limited) by mistake (i really had a regular olive one), and they had no problem with me keeping that one. Its a company i've always been really impressed with.
And you are getting a 'tactical' lionsteel at a fair price.

Ive been eying one too but my concern is blade length. does the blade feel small

Not too small. It feels very average to me. And like Jason B said, its pretty thick at the edge. Not the slicest kind of knife. But the blade feels like very sturdy because of how thick it is. Its definatly a unique one, but i like em.

Good all around small carry knife. My choice when I'm limited by local legal restrictions. It cuts and and can pry. I believe DPx has a 25% off sale direct on their website
