Hey Everybody......

At long last, Tooge sent me pre production prototypes of the BK13 REMORA....And very nice they are too....Like little razors they are and shiny 440A... A scary sharp little guy.....You guys are gonna love these for food prep, attacking steaks, caping, dressing small game and all sorts of fine work....At a weight of twenty five grams that's just under one ounce, and very likely under twenty bucks I think you all are really, really gonna like this baby....

Testing will commence the day after tomorrow(tomorrow is root canal day yeah, yeah) and I will be giving progress reports soon after....

All Best...

US made is always a good thing.

I'd also like to know if the US made ones will be shipping with the BK7's-9's?

The problem, Ethan, is that it's in your hand, not mine. I want one as soon as they become available. I think they're really neat little blades with a ton of uses (like in my survival kit).

Sorry about the root canal. You have my sympathy.

ETA: By the way, sir, will there be a kydex sheath available for these little guys?

I wouldn't expect to see them come with the BK7 or BK9's any time soon. You may however see them come by themselves first.

You know, a Becker for $19.95 doesn't need anything as exotic as unobtanium. I trust Ethan to make a good knife with common 440A, just as he always does. My question is, will there be a sheath available for these?

That's gonna be a handy little Necker, When are they gonna be on the Market ? I think I'll get two, I'll replace the one In the Sheath with the China made that came with my BK7, And get a Kydex Sheath made for the other one for a Neck Knife, Good Deal on the the New US Made BK13 !

Hey Mrpink and all

440a is a mechanically very tough stainless steel which is very similar to AUS8.....It takes a good edge fairly easily and holds it well....I made the first TACTOOLS out of it in hopes people would dive with it....Oh well....Ka-Bar is cryo treating theses little guys to -120F which does a great stress relief as well as encouraging the austenite to transfer to Martensite (the good stuff)......I will report in later after I get some cutting time in......

All Best....

I'd guess that if this comes with the BK7 and BK9 instead of the China-made version, the price of the BK7 and BK9 will go up.

I hope not, but that might depend on how much it costs Ka-Bar to produce it. The inclusion of the BK-13 is a great selling point for the BK-7 and Bk-9 so, with any luck, their prices might remain the same as -- or at least close to -- what they are now. Maybe Ethan will chime in here.

All very good. I really like the BK-13. Of course I'm a hammer head and would like it in high carbon... I'll certainly get some of them in the 440A with a good heat treat and will share them with friends and family, most of whom will prefer the stainless.

I love that they're made here and I think they are a great bonus with the bigger knives. I'm going to attach mine to a float, make a kydex sheath for it and use it for a fishing knife as its the perfect size for those kinds of chores in the canoe.

can it baton? :) heh heh.

they look so CUTE
