Hi all over in the US, my question is about an English maker. The chaps name is Keith Moorby, he also made the knives for a company called "Stud Custom", i met him the other day. One of the British Blades.Com members works for one of the few companies left making knives and we had a tour of his works "Taylors Eye Witness" and this is were i met Mr Moorby "who is the general manager" and Russell is very interested to see if there are any websites with examples of his work. I am also very interested to have a look at some of his custom knives, i will edit the thread in a few mins to put on the sub section on BB were the pics can be seen, i think you will indeed find them interesting.
Go on britishblades.com then Events Meetups etc look for Sheffield meet up pics. I reckon you will be pleasantly surprised.
Paul.

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, or saying.

Are you asking us for something, or are you about to tell us / show us something?

firstly sorry to jump in on pauls thread. i am the russell he is referring to, and after a tour around our works (taylors eyewitness) paul offered to help me to try and find some information about my managers knives from when he was custom making knives, as paul said his name is keith moorby.

the pictures paul was referring to are over on britishblades.com. they can be found here:

really would appreciate any help from anyone

thanks

russell

Hi Russell this thread is going to have some "air miles" mate (Derbyshire-US-Yorkshire-Derbyshire etc) hope the states guys turn something up.
Regards Paul.

OT, but related to your visit, are there any reputable American dealers who carry "Taylors Eye Witness" knives?

I tried the Google thing for "keith Moorby" knife. Didn't find anything other than an expired eBay auction...

So good luck in your quest.

Hi Bob and thanks for your help, re your question about American dealers selling these knives, i havent seen any. But that isnt to say they dont i just havent seen any.
Paul.

Russell, Paul,

A lot depends on whether Keith was the only maker working for "Stud"

Does Keith have an email address?

all the best,

A. G.

Keith Moorby became interested in knife making at an early age - his mother worked for a time as a knife polisher. He did his apprenticeship at George Ibbersonsm where he worked for 12 years where he got an excellent grounding not only in knife and scissor making but also in production and warehousing.

He started making his own knives in his garden shed and for a time focussed on custom knife making out of Sheffield - for which he was well known in the 80's. He also sold knives for other makers but his own range was extensive and included Damascus bowies, inlaid folders, locking folders, skinners, toothpick daggers, push knives and even balisongs.

He had to taper off his custom knifemaking when he became production manager at Taylor's Eye Witness 25 years ago (folding and kitchen knive), and is heavily involved in design and development of new products as well as production. He says he intends to resume making custom knives after he 'retires'.

He can be contacted at Taylor's Eye Witness in Sheffield. Hope this helps

I have a push dagger marked STUD with a very nice molded faux carved ivory handle Womans heads at each end with flowing hair connecting them. Is that one of his? if so who did the handles?
