My best knife is a gerber remix and I'm looking to upgrade I need an affordable knife in the 25-50$ range prefurably any suggestions

Folks like nothing better than to recommend knives, but if you want replies targeted to what you really want, I suggest you add some specifics about what you want it for and need it to do.... :)

Go to the dealer's section and there's a $24 special on the RAT-1 folder - a real tank with a long blade. Or, How about a Spyderco Tenacious for about $35? It's a big blade in a different kind of way!

Open Google and copy and paste these in the search box, you'll be amazed at ow nice they are for very little money. :)

Spyderco Delica 4. They go for 40-50 on eBay and the For Sale forums.

If you can spend just a few bucks more.... get a Benchmade Mini Grip.
Model #555 for the one with the thumb hole.

at around the $50 price point you could pick up a Buck Vantage Pro. its a great knife

I got a Kershaw Needs Work for $17.50 :D (I'm hoping it's going to be good; it hasn't come yet, so this isn't exactly a recommendation.)

The best slicing/cutting knife I've ever used has been the Delica 4 with a full-flat ground blade. It's the only knife that I've ever bought duplicates of.

If you want to go cheaper, I'd recommend the Spyderco Tenacious or Persistence, depending on the size you're looking for. And also in that category is the Resilience with a 4" blade (but this one hasn't hit the shelves yet, I don't believe.)

From Kershaw, there is the Leek, OD-1, Zing, and Ener-G. And many more, of course.

Kershaw Leek CPM-D2 ~$52
Buck Vantage Pro S30V~$55
Spyderco Delica FFG VG-10 ~ $55
Benchmade Monochrome N690 ~$35
Spyderco Native S30V~$50

All good steels IMO (been impressed with N690 and the monochrome since its discontinued in the plain stainless steel can be found for closeout prices). Those are the lower prices if you shop around, though you may be able to find slightly better if you really look. I also like the spyderco tenacious, kershaw skyline and the benchmade Vex, but the 8cr13mov isn't too much of an upgrade in edge holding compared to the above options which is important to me in a folder, though may not be as important to you, if not take a look at those as well which should be around $30ish.

Kershaw Skyline is about 35, and you can probably find it at Wal-mart; I bought one for my brother and he loved it. I haven't handled them, but I've heard good things about the OD-1 and Zing as well.

The Spyderco Tenacious or Persistence are both good knives around the 30-35 dollar mark.

The Benchmade Vex, if you can find it, is also in your price range. I remember seeing it around 30 or so. As some else suggested, if you up your limit by about 5-10 dollars you can get a Benchmade Griptilian, or a Spyderco Endura.

Edit: I almost forgot the Benchmade Pika II's. I'm looking at some on one of the online stores that has the Titanium handles discounted to below 40.

In no particular order:

Any of the Byrd line
Buck Vantage Pro (at about your upper limit)
Any KaBar Dozier
Spyderco Persistance
Spyderco Tenacious

There are probably a hundred knives I can recommend in the $25-$50 range. Let us know what specifics you are looking for and we'll be able to narrow it down for you.

there are heaps of these threads, use the search feature or the bladeforums google search - http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=011197018607028182644:qfobr3dlcra

hopefully this can help you make you mind up as well as the suggestions in this thread.

my vote is for the spyderco delica 4, I think you can get it for 50 bucks, maybe a bit more.

EDIT: if you do see a knife you like and its over 50 bucks, say its 70, save up for that one, rather than getting the 50 dollar folder and wishing you had gotten the 70 dollar one.

I will be more specific I am interested in the Spyderco tenacious and persistence but i do not want any of the byrd line no benchmades except the monochrome and it needs to be at least 3 inches and i will do everyday tasks with it and it needs a blade steel of at least AUS 8A but preferably 440c and if possible an assisted opener like the kershaw leek

thanks for saying that because i forgot to mention that i LOVE tanto blades

You could pick up a SOG Aegis for around 50, and the TiNi version (Highly Recommended) for 64ish. Check Ebay or google shopping results.

Here's another vote for the Kershaw Skyline. Other winners include the Kershaw Leek and Sapphire. The CRKT Pazoda is one that has really won me over recently. Once you start looking in earnest, you'll be amazed at how many great knives can be had in that price range!
