If you plan to move around as you "survive" it might be worth taking a look at the Cold Steel Bush Ranger. This model features a
bowie-like, 7 1/2", Carbon V blade and is lighter than most of the suggestions mentioned above. The weight is only 8.8 oz. and the 3/16" stock is more than strong enough for most tasks (it even cuts better).
