I used this site extensively to research a replacement for my old early 90s spyderco, which I accidentally dropped into the ocean after owning it and using it daily for 30 years. I wanted to replace it with a good solid working knife that I could carry in pocket. A local sporting good store had a fair to middling inventory, so I got a feel for the different major brands for general feel. Things have certainly changed since my spyderco. I looked at Benchmades, Spydercos, Kershaws, and Zero Tolerance, with a few others. I had a Kershaw cryo I bought for a temporary knife, which is a damn good knife, but a bit small for my tastes. Through this forum, I finally decided on a Zero Tolerance 0801, which I just received. I ordered it through Kershaw Guy. (the lowest price and was sent very quickly!).
I was a bit nervous, having never seen one, and hearing some reviewers complain about the weight.
Well, I absolutely love this knife so far. I think it carries better than my old spyderco, that I adored, is very heavy duty, feels great in hand, cuts awesome, and really seems to be a true knife for people that use their knives. Not really sure what the weight complaints are about quite honestly, as it feels just about perfect to me, but then again, I was used to my old stainless steel handled spyderco with a blade about this size.
I think I made the right choice, as I think this knife will take abuse and perform as good if not better than my olde spydie for many years. I see most of the members are collectors, which I am not, but I appreciate tools that are well made and purposeful, which this knife most definitely is in spades.
So, thanks guys, for your advice, even though you did not know you gave it to me.
