Just a few months ago, I was not a Spyderco fan. You couldn't talk me into buying a Spyderco. I'm not sure I would have taken one if someone offered to give it to me for free (well, probably would have done that - who's seriously going to pass up a free knife). Maybe it was the blade shape, maybe it was that big Spydie hole that I just didn't get...I just decided they weren't for me....

Then something I read in a blog made me think I needed to give the Tenacious a try. I bought one about a month ago. And I have been MISSING OUT! Even in the budget, 8Cr13MoV line, I am impressed with the construction of this knife. It deploys more smoothly than even some of my AO knives. The Tenacious is definitely my "gateway" Spyderco (the one that leads to harder, more intense Spydies).

Big props to Sal and all the guys out in Golden for these great designs! I already have my eye on my next purchase, the PM2, assuming I can track one down. There've been several on the exchange recently; alas, I must wait for the first of the month and paychecks to go through before I can pull the trigger on one. Hoping there will still be some available around then.

Looking forward to hanging out with you guys here in the Spyderco subform and maybe earning my SpyderNation status at some point.

My first Spydercos were a Tenacious and Sage I. Have about 6 or 7 Spydies now. Glad you like 'em.

I started with a persistence and every week since then i have either ordered or sold a knife. I'm a knife hoe

I started over a decade ago with a FRN Native...which I lost on a job site after a couple of years...had a replacement in my pocket by the end of the week. In the last couple of years my collection has expanded to about 35 or so (It happens a lot faster and more easily than you'd think...whatever knife-crack Sal has infused into these handles is potent stuff), but I still carry my 8 year old FRN Native from time to time. It shrugged off a 275 foot fall onto gravel (Closed fortunately), and is no worse for wear...you'd be hard pressed to find the impact mark if I didn't show it to you. Enjoy your newfound and surely incoming lack of pocket cash, and enjoy your new purchases. Those who know carry Spyderco

Hey Semper. Good to see you. I too have recently come back to Spyderco. Although, I must admit here, I got shutdown by the wife for a few weeks due to a move coming up and have to leave a Delica 4 and a Manix 2 sitting in the cart. They will be mine and I can't wait. I had two Enduras (both are 20 years old) that I just beat the snot out of. They were just too big, and too much serration for me to truly appreciate or manipulate for that matter, so I gave them away.....hopefully at least one will come back here as a giveaway soon ;) But the Manix 2....oh my..............and to think a year ago I said I'd never carry a folder again. Wrong.

Love me some Spydercos!

Dude..get a Manix 2, make sure to have a bowl near you when opening the package for the excess drool you will expel

I highly recommend CPM CruWear if you can find one, but if not CPM S30V is a great steel, especially in the range Spyderco heat treats it (And they have an exceptional heat treat as you'll likely realize once you start using your PM2).

Over 20 years for me now. I find the thumb hole the easiest and most reliable way to open a knife. I have others with thumb studs and flippers but they just make me appreciate the hole more.

I too never cared for the Spyderco look, then I watched a video about Spyderco vs Benchmade. They both have their attributes, but my eyes were now opened to Spyderco.
Don't get me wrong, my Benchmades are not going anywhere soon, but after handling my first Spiderco Paramilitary in CPM D2 and finding that I actually liked the blade configuration, a Paramilitary 2 soon found it's way into my home.
Now I am addicted to BOTH.

While I understand everybody has their own personal preferences and views of aesthetics vary from individual to individual, I never understood the aversion some people have to certain designs--including Spyderco knives. I bought my first one in 1990 when the first Delica and Endura were introduced. Although I promptly lost it, I soon replaced it with another one that I carried for nearly a decade. They were different at the time and many people thought they were ugly (reminds me of the reception of the Glock handgun). I simply found Spydercos had too many good points to ignore. They were lightweight and had ergonomics that followed the contours of the hand. And the hole was more comfortable to open than the majority of thumbstud models available at the time. Although I firmly believe humans are adaptable and can adjust to most tactile forms, I like it when form follows function.

I own a lot of knives of varying designs and brands but, when it comes to the modern folding knife, there are more Spydercos that appeal to me than those from any other brand. I guess that's why I own more Spyderco knives in that classification than any other brand. Right now, I'm in love with the Gayle Bradley folder and its blade shape relative the Stretch. But all the Spydercos I own are remarkable for the way they handle and the build quality. To the OP, you are in for an enjoyable ride with Spyderco knives. Welcome to the family.

Man i was the exact same way. Never was a fan of spyderco, thought they looked goofy with the deployment hole and the big blades. Finally bought a tenacious to try out and fell in love immediately. Since then i cant stop buying.

A Tenacious was my gateway as well. I've since sold it and I am getting a Sage 2 now. A ParaMilitary 2 is my next 'wishlist' item.

I hated Spyderco's for a long time. I thought they were weird, ugly etc. I got bit by them last year in August. Since then, I currently own:

Manix 2 CTS-XHP
PM2 Digicam/Satin
Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189
Caly3 CF/ZDP
Schempp Rock
Gayle Bradley.

I have owned:

Nilakka
Southard
Waved Endura
Forum Native 5 S110V

I own/have owned far more Spydies than any other brand. Its an addiction.
