Glad you are home and doing well, Like Matthew said, stick with the PT and whatever they told you to do.

Also, from past spine surgeries, there is a bit more pain when the bone they sawed on started to heal in a week or so.

Take the stuff as prescribed, not more or less and then listen when they want you to start tapering off of it.
 
Let me say this first,............. I'm not a very good patient. I don't like being fussed over. I am, however, according to my Dr. a "compliant" one. Which means I'm good at following directions and not "BSing" him. It helps to be good friends with your primary caregiver

I'm following ALL the directives and drug regimens to the letter. The physical therapist says that I'm wayyyyyy ahead of where most people would be after a week probably because of the months of working out I did I while waiting for the go ahead.

I've come to appreciate my Google Nexus 7 tablet a great deal too. Dandy,dandy thing!
