I am about to pull the trigger on my first real belt grinder setup:

MOTOR, 2HP, 1750 RPM, 1PH, 115V/208-230V, 56C/TEFC, With base

Question. Will this setup "chooch"?
Will this motor bolt right up to the Reeder?
Would there be any advantage to the
Ameribrade 272 over the reader? Thanks guys...

Apparently not everybody watches AvE. ;)

I agree with Stacy. Save yourself the heartache and go with a 3 phase/VFD setup. If you shop around, I've seen 1.5-2hp 3 phase motors for anywhere from $50 to $100 used, or you can go with something like an IronHorse brand motor from Automation Direct for $175-200. You can get a chinese VFD for about $100 to $130. Add about $40 to $50 for misc. wiring and such, and you should be able to put something together.

I've got the Reeder and like it. If you can swing it, definitely go variable speed. Can't imagine using a grinder without it.

get a 1 hp 1720 rpm motor and use the savings to buy a 1 hp VFD. http://dealerselectric.com/FM50-101-C.asp this is a 115V VFD and should give many years of service. don't be talked into monster motors, learn how to properly use your tools.
