Ok heres the deal. I am wanting a frame lock folder of quality. Not a sebbie. I have owned a couple and never kept them just cause the grip ergo's weren't the greatest for me. So because I can't use the search function(thank you very much) what are everyone's opinion both good and bad of any of the framelocks they may own. Oh yea production only. Have been the custom route and the only customs I ever kept for any length were W.R. Clark PDK's and should never have sold them!

SO there you go, give me something to read tonight. I have looked obviously at the 12 and TOPS Thuner Hawke which actually looks good. STR any opinions? Keepem sharp and thanks

I just got myself a Bradley "Alias I", S30V 3-1/2" blade(p.e.), titanium frame, frame lock. Very nice knife, if I do say so myself. First "fancy" folder I ever owned. Everything before that was Kershaw, or Buck. I'm very happy with it. Sharp as can be, no blade play, & sounds like a car door when it locks up.

My suggestion is to get an STR ouparator. Seriously, you wont' get a sturdier, more useful folder for the buck. He does a masterful job and you can't go wrong.

My 2 cents,
Brett

Hi longbow,

You mentioned having owned a couple of Sebenza. Did you own both the Regular and Classic versions? They feel very different to me.

There's the Benchmade 630 and 635 (Skirmish and Mini-Skirmish).

Or, maybe you would like a Strider SnG?

Longbow, I won't buy anything but CRK when it comes to a frame lock. However, the other day I got the chance to handle a Buck/Mayo. It was VERY sharp and nicely put together. The fit + finish was top notch. It's worth a look IMO. As far as Strider, the few that I've owned have been sold. My 2 cents.

Well thanks for all the info. fellas. I owned both the classic and regualr sebenza, one was a moon song version. The knife will be used for edc what ever that entails. I am thinking of the STR route for one of my 14's. I really really like that particular EKI. I have also owned the 630 and 635 and frankly didn't care for either one. I have owned a Kershaw framelock I bought out in Montanna on vac. but quickly replaced that with s.s. Endura from the same shop.

I just might order one of those A.G. Russells Rifon and thanks for pointing me in that direction. Not to big and not to small and inexpesive enough to buy one to just check it out and evaluate it. The more I think of the Thunder Hawke the more I am thinking it must may be to bulky to carry. Maybe not though. Does anyone know how it stacks up to the 12? That is where I was originally leaning towards. Anyways keep the thoughts and opinions comming. Food for thought for sure. keepem sharp

PS owned a Buck Mayo for quite a while but again just to darn small for my hands, but very excellant quality.

You can't go wrong with either the Strider SnG or the Emerson HD7

Both awesome knives

There are tons of great framelocks out there , some cost around $50.

A fine example is the Kershaw Leek in it's many flavors.

One does not need to spend a downpayment on a car for a good knife.

How about a Kershaw Mini-Cyclone with ZDP-189 blade & titanium handles. It IS an excellent knife!

How about the run of Kershaw Junkyard Dog II's. Titanium handle and framelock with ZDP blade. A nice size for pocket carry. At least to me it is!

Great knives.
Still haven't figured out why they didn't put a lanyard hole on them, though.

I wondered that too. At first glance, I thought I could just tie a lanyard through the frame and around the bottom-most spacer. Duh! Of course, this thought didn;t last long. I'll suffer without one, because I can;t envision drilling through the nice frame.

The Kershaw Leek is indeed awesome. Check mine out.

1 side G10, one side steel framelock, S30V blade! Don't see many like that do you!

You are talking the 1725SG2. The blade is SG2, not ZDP. Also known as Super Gold. It is another of the powdered metalurgy steels, from Japan.
Nice knife, I have one in my right front right now, its smaller brother in left rear. I am still trying to get the flipper action to work right though. They do not open all the way every time. Guess I am used to the assisted openers, and my wrists are a bit limp.:D
The only complaint I have with Kershaw is there tendency for the blades to have noticably assymetric grinds. I do not have one Kershaw with the grinds the same on both sides. The new 1725SG2 is no exception.
