You can probably get one of the custom maker dudes to add stippling or other patterns in the scales with a dremel or soldering iron perhaps (or do it yourself if you are brave), or judiciously apply skateboard tape to make the scales grippy. Link. Or if your credit card is big enough, someone might make replacement scales to your liking. But I doubt that aftermarket replacement scales are available (but thats just a guess). You might give the skateboard tape a try, as its cheap and easy to undo. 3M also makes something similar to skateboard tape that is made for applying to steps (to add traction), which I have heard they carry at Home Depot, etc. Good luck.
