I blame it all on Jackknife.......

Parting with this one hurt just a little, but I gained more spiritually, than I lost materially.

And for your newest friend, your little hurting was his big time feel good. Plus he gained both spiritually as well as materially. Very nicely done!:thumbup::thumbup:

What a great gift. It takes a special person to do something like that.

Awesome gesture on your part - good on ya, man!:thumbup: The best part about it is that you didn't just give him a knife but a keepsake.

I've got to say, in my life I've regretted not giving a gift, but I've never regretted giving one.

Good story.

It just makes you feel right doing something like that. Good job.

CJ,
I know how you feel,my give away was a of a diff.kind! I have a friend who contacted me last yr with a request!Jim,I know you have friends in the military.would you do me a favor & give some of my knives to them.Tell them "thanks for their service"from an old troop! Please do not tell my name nor my address.I said,BE HONORED TOO!Well I got them fixed & folders some were customs.First one went to a NAM SOG friend.Next went to a RANGER,,,saw him at the gym, said got something for you in my truck. He followed me.I said the words & gave him the knife. He looked at me ,said"You're serious, for me??Nobody gives us anything. The look on his face was something else, tears were there! A tough, young RANGER gripping that folder like he would never let go.He said, thank you & .thank the gentleman! I will NEVER forget this! One went to a NAVY sailor, one to a MARINE ,two to ARMY & one to AIR FORCE
I recorded each & every word ,expression , geture. & I sent THE GENTLEMANall the info! Get this...."I"was the one that felt HONORED & HE "thanked me"!!I really didn't do anything that ya'll wouldn't have done, still can't get ovr ,him thanking me!Sorry for being windy!

It must be catching.

The other day I noticed that Karen had a new purple classic on her keyring. I asked her what happened to her black one, and she told me that somebody had admired it when she had loaned it to them to cut something. She told the person to go ahead and keep it on thier keyring.

I really suspect, that being a woman, she was tired of the basic black one, and she gave her's away so she would have an exuse to buy the new purple one. :D

Awesome gesture! I haven't given away a knife in about a year; it is a nice feeling.

The last knife I gave away was a an Oldtimer linerlock 1-blade trapper. I got it as a gift from a forumite and I in turn gave it to a very old friend who had owned (and broke) that same knife as a teen and hadn't carried a knife since.

Yes, you did him a great justice. That's my favorite Schrade knife (194OT). The one I have now I gave to my secretary several years ago. A few years ago, she left the company and left the knife in her desk. Her replacement returned it to me.

There are some great folks on this forum, I know from personal experience. Makes it a real pleasure, no, acutally an honor to hang out with folks like this group.

Yes, I have lost alot of cynicism due to the outright charity I have seen on BF. It is an honor to be associated with this group.

That was a neat story, and that was a very nice knife that you gave to him, and it's his ONLY knife-so its got to be cool!!
Well done, I have just been on the recieving endof being gifted a knife-and to be honest...it has blown me away, I havent even had the pleasure of meeting the person who gave it to me, but it has made me determined to return the favour-and if not to him ( which I will one day )..it will be to another.
