I bought a BK16... now what?

I think that's well beyond my bushcraft skill level at this point. Maybe one day I'll be able to work up to that.

You probably wouldn't say that if you saw the final product. Took me a long time to get that spatula half way decent. The tongs could have been better too.

The 9 is "The King" of the BKT line. It is a SUPER CHOPPER. Regardless of whichever BK you start with, if you stick around here, you will understand that "you can't not have a 9." It's an inevitable purchase upgrade for the BeckerHeads who really like to destroy things.

lol i am a beckerhead. coming on 2 years i think. no 9 here
although i do have a 12" ontario machete that i just love with a custom leather sheath. SO i am thinking they gonna do about the same thing :P
but i do have a 2, 11 and a 15 to date

The first thing I would do is go out and use it.
See how you like it just the way it is.

You need a BK9. You can't not have a 9.

lol i dont know what to tell you....
but i dont have one

*looks around all shifty-eyed*

BK9 comes before all else. Including food and beer!

My wife is already concerned I might have a new hobby. ANOTHER new hobby.

Just spend a lot of time with her. At first she'll enjoy it but after a little bit she'll be all like "Why don't you go play with your knives? ...and leave me the heck alone" :D

I think she's just most concerned that my shopping will interfere with hers :). I just picked up hunting too so a new compound bow and accessories as well as camo etc plus with the new guns I'm in the market for...

I have quite a different problem. My wife doesn't get angry I spent money... she just sees that as a free pass for her to spend money. Every purchase I make essentially costs me double... once for what I buy, and once for what she buys because I got something.

My wife totally ignores my knife interests. In terms of modifications, I would use it and get the feel of it. It's a great knife.

Nobody has mentioned "how to" strip off the painted finish? Paint remover?

Sounds fair to me. What's the problem?

except my wife is an accountant ...and handles the bills/money
if i dont ask, i'll get caught..and quick :D

So order it online and tell he it's her Christmas present. Then go dumpster diving for scrap metal and make some scratch on the side to buy here a present locally. Or buy the knife locally if you can. Either way.

Well, went out and checked the mail box.....got a pkg from Tomars...scales for the 11 and a nice <$20.00 folder to boot....like the Dozier!

Number 9....number 9.....number 9...........to keep things in line................
