I bought a CRK Pocket Slip for the office.

Sigh...

Me carrying the knife in the slip is not about keeping it pristine. It's only carried in the slip when I don't like the knife clipped to my pants (at my office in khakis/slacks). The pocket sheath helps the knife carry better in pocket.

I completely agree with you on this one. I don't like showing a clip at work because even though it's perfectly legal here there's always some smart ass ready to aggravate you. For me it would not be about protecting the knife as much as it would be keeping It in pocket and NOT sideways. And as corskin said I actually feel relieved when my new EDC gets its first scars, a weight is lifted off my shoulders and I know I can use it now without worry. Sort of like when you got your first new car, you always avoided the small/tight spots, preferring to park in the bigger spots even if they were a farther walk. After your first few scratches and dings however you parked that sucker anywhere.

If I wore a suit (hell, if I owned nice clothes ) I'd be right there with you BMC.

:D I have the bare minimum. The dress code is the only thing I really dislike about my current job.

That's the only time I use the slip too, when I'm wearing formal pants, it seems to carry better by keeping it vertical somehow. Do you guys take the clip off when using the slip?

I like the clip for when I'm in jeans or in places where I feel a clip is appropriate.

Exactly. And I just don't think a clip looks very professional. My CRK got its first scratch when I removed the lanyard pin. :)

Same reason I have tried the slip. I don't clip at work for the same reasons. It seems like the small slip case rotates just as easy as a bare knife in my slacks pocket. If it would stay vertical, I'd use it for sure. I have considered a larger slip case to see if it helps.

I've gone away pretty much from clip carry on all my knives due to my pants getting torn to shreds plus preferring not to display what I have in my pockets. I work a combination of office and in the field and spent a lot of time in the office in the past month, and I'm also of the opinion even though there's no knife policy, I don't consider clips that professional.

I took the clip off my small 21, put the lanyard back on, and carried it in its slip for weeks. Unrelated, but I love the feel of the knife and really any knife without the clip. I couldn't stand how it always ended up horizontal along with my EDC light in the same pocket. I ultimately took matters into my own hands and began sewing my own pocket organizers so that everything stays vertical and doesn't touch each other. So while I've never carried a large Sebenza slip sheath, it seems anything that isn't that wide always ends up horizontal in my pocket which really used to bug me. Even my Military would do it.

I agree. I'd really like to see these organizers you're sewing. Got any pics?

I carry my small ladder Damascus in a slip sheath on Sunday in the coin pocket in my suit pants. It's a little pocket inside my right front pocket that holds it nicely vertical.

Do you carry your Spyderco Military "inside" the pocket without a clip, also? And what orientation..... tip-up or tip-down?

I have one pair of pants with this pocket....wish all my slacks had one.

Hadn't thought about that. I wear a suit 5 days a week. No wonder my right pants pocket is always the most worn!

I've always carried my small 21 in a CRK pocket sheath. I'm not into pocket clips either. The pocket sheath protects the knife, and it rides really nice in the pocket. The sheath will conform to the knife after carrying it a while & a little sweat.

I like the CRK calf skin a lot. I've tried a couple other leather holsters and always come back to these. Only takes a few weeks to start breaking in...

I guess I just think differently as I still can't see how making something wider, thicker, and longer helps it carry better in khaki or dress pants. I imagine this to feel like putting a wallet in my front pocket. To each his own I suppose.

I do get not wanting to clip a knife on one's pocket in the office. That makes sense. I carry a small traditional or a SAK Farmer in the office. Technically, I shouldn't carry anything as I work in a FED bldg but security doesn't mind these little guys. Yes, sometimes they turn horizontal in my pocket but it's no worse than my Fisher bullet pen, my small Fenix AAA flashlight, or my lip balm. It's much better than my keys.

So far it doesn't go horizontal as much. I actually carried a SAK Cadet today.
