I bought a lot of axes

I think the better reason not to buy one is that you can have fun creating something yourself.

You could probably very easily find a beat up woodslasher boys axe or other very similar very common head and turn it into one.

If you really want the pack axe then go for it because I hear it's a pretty good axe, but you may like something you make yourself more.
That is extremely true. I want to start doing some smithing and what not when I move and get my shop set up. I have an old shopsmith and radial arm saw to get started.. but that is a really good point...why buy it when you can make it. Other benefit is skipping the issue of buyer's remorse.

Oh yah I didn't take pictures but last night before I left the other shop I took 00 steel wool to the cruiser double bit. Nothing no stamps. But I figured as much. I also took a wire wheel to the Champion and Simmons.

All I'm going to do to the Champion is file down some of the edges around the eye to help in rehandling and maybe so a light touch up sharpening on it. I'll leave the pitting and just use it.

The Simmons cleaned up nice the cutting edges are in nice shape and still sharp enough with no obvious damage. The Circle to the right of the name is there but what ever was in the circle seems to have worn off.

Does the cruiser head have eye ridges in it? Or any red paint on it at all? Could be a Woodslasher cruiser. I have been looking for one of those for a while now! Great score bud!!

It does have ridges if i remember i think it was two on each side. I'll head to the shop it's in tomorrow and have a definite answer tomorrow on count. But the paint that was on it was the darker green from my first post. I don't know the brand but it cuts nicely. The guy who I got all these from really took good care imo and found some awesome axes.

But anyway tomorrow I'll get the correct answer and a photo of the eye. Also what ever it is I like it.

I wonder how many axes and heads I have in my garage, plus extra handles etc.. Maybe fifty or sixty. If someone drove up and gave me $140 for each eleven of them I would probably sell them all except for one user, and the hatchet my old man gave me...

For real? Are any of them worth a damn? 15 bucks is a good price, look what a new hunk of scrap axe cost.
well I've seen some Keen Kutter going for $30 as base bid offering... I'd say you could probably from an uninformed sale sell them for about that much each wether some are worth more or less...so I guess from that basis they could have gone for around $300 for the lot... But most of them after talking to the seller he found them in estate sales and garage sales for $1-$10 a piece so from that perspective they are only worth what you want to pay I guess.

But comparing my new axes to the current hardware store axes it's like I was using a stone axe and have just discovered metal tools xD

Ok so from my last reply I was wrong it is three on each side of the eye.

Nice. I have looked for one of those. I’m pretty sure it’s a True Temper someone painted green. I know true temper also made some of the bluegrass exes so it could’ve been one of those possibly? If they were even green idk.

I found an old bladeforums thread that suggests it is possible it is one. But you can see the color of green it was from the eye photo. But why wouldn't they have marked it? Though I guess asking that could be a bit pointless since my Powermaster is only marked west Germany. While I had to decipher the rements of the sticker to figure out what it was.

But I'm thinking of maybe after making a sheath for it probably tossing it in one of my truck boxes. Though still working on getting the hang of using a double bitted axe... But they are unique.

Sure, if someone drove up and took them away that would be great. I would not have to store them, I would not have to waste time selling them through Ebay etc.. All of my axes/hatchets/heads are old USA vintage, which I have picked up over the years for zero to pocket-change each. So if someone drove up and handed me five-hundred or however many dollars it took to buy them as a lot that would be great. My time is much more valuable to me than making the last cent or dollar off selling axes and hatchets....

True Temper did use a green paint also.
