I bought the Buck 110 today for my father in law, and I also bought one for myself. They were $25 a piece, so it was a good buy. I love the feel of this thing in my hand, it is great, and I can't wait to cut into something with it! I doubt I make it my EDC, as my Wave will still be, but wil definitally go with me to the woods or on the water. I showed it to my father in law, and he said he loves it. He said he hopes to get one soon for deer season, but little does he know he already has one, just not in his possession. Instead of waiting til christmas, I may just go ahead and give it too him at the beginning of November, which is when our first muzzleloader hunt season opens, so he can take it with him. Thanks for the help guys! Greatly appreciated.:D

I bought the 110 in S30V today as well. Bit more expensive though.

Don't wait to long if your father-in-law is a "buy what I want" kind of guy he may buy one before November.

I got the one in 420HC, because that is the one he likes. I doubt it, because he said that now, and he will forget it later. He focuses more on the big things, like big tools for around the house. If not, I will wait until I hear him outside sighting in his ML, because he lives next door. Plus, he works on the road alot and only has a small japanese knife he bought while in NY. He has a drawer full of knives from everywhere. He will stop and buy a cheap one if he forgets his at home of loses it. That is why I wanna give him this because it is good and i know he will take care of it.

I'm very impressed with the heat treatment on my "basic" Buck 110. I bought mine at Academy. It takes a great edge, great lock up, great fit and finish, great ........ Well, you get the point. Great knife! I'd say give it to him now. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine. M

Even if he does get one, I'm sure he'd appreciate another. I mean, it beats a tie!

Sure does! lol even though he never wears them. I mean I would appreciate ammuntion, but the man has enough to survive a war, and he has lots of knives, but I wanna get him this one, because I know he could use it everyday at home, work, or in the field hunting.

how do you get someone to buy you a knife as a present?

I've always received crap I toss into a box in the bottom of my closet..

Yes, I wouldn't wait too long to give him the 110, because as the season approaches, I'm sure he's making all necessary arrangements to update gear and restock, I know I am...

He said, "Gee, I sure would like to get one of those sometime soon. I will have to go buy one if I don't" Which is generally a clue thats what he would like for christmas, but in saying this, I am gonna get it too him early so he can enjoy it in the field. I am also ready for the upcoming season! Can't wait! Football and Hunting!!!

There condition is mint. I suspect that they are in the knife roll and he pulls 'em out and admires them periodically but I bet he's got a 420HC that rattles around him really regular.

Buck 110 and 112 are solid old school knives. Even the old Bucklite series were good also. Still have em after 20+ yrs, they still lock up without play in either the lock or blade.

These were mint (and new) when I took the pictures, but not now.
I have carried and used every one of my knives.
And while I rotate them as EDC's, the ones I find myself carrying the most are the stag Custom 110 (pictured above), the Alaskan Guide 110....

And the BassPro CPM154 110....

There's certainly nothing wrong with the standard 420HC Buck 110....it's a fine knife that will serve you well.
But I admit that I'm abit of a steel snob.
And while the 420HC is good, I prefer a higher grade of blade-steel.
In my opinion, the Alaskan Guide S30V Buck 110 is the best Buck for the buck that you can buy right now.

Allen whats the scale on that first piece? Nice.
It's walnut, with an ATS-34 blade.
I really love the way this one looks and cuts, but I don't actually carry it as much as I do my others.
The finger-grooves are not as comfortable as I thought they would be, because the scales are not beveled.
I might send it back to Buck and see if they can bevel the edges of the scales.
Or I might trade it.

Great knives.:thumbup::thumbup:

I have a custom with a BG-42 blade made when they were still in California great work knife.

A few years back I traded for a NIB Titanium 560 then for got I had it. Well you thread reminded me of it so I broke it out today.

I don't have a pick of it yet so I grabbed one off the net for those who don't know what the 560s look like.
