Yes I broke it- I sheared the the notch the lever sets in on the tang clear off

WTF?????
That shouldn't happen!!

What to do??

Well now you've done it. Who will we look to now that Cold steel is no longer strong? :p

I still have no idea what you mean by your first post. Maybe try reposting?

Call Cold Steel. Hopefully they'll have awesome customer service. Then again, if it broke, you were more than likely doing something you shouldn't. :)

I have to see pictures of this one...that sounds difficult to say the least.

I can see breaking the blade with some kind of torsional lateral stress, or chipping out the blade (I have seen older AK47's heat treated too brittle do this) but never a Spartan. There are alot of heavy users on this forum that have beat the hell out of them with nary an issue.

After all the bragging Cold Steel does about the Triad-lock, they better replace it at no cost, I don't care what you were doing.

If you do try their customer service make sure to post, cause I'm real curious how they'll handle it given previous stories I've herd.

Can't wait to see the pics...

I'd like to know how and then I'd like to hear CS's response if it wasn't broken doing something stupid.

It doesn't matter what I was doing- a quarter of the tang shouldn't just shear off
I'm going to look for the missing piece Tomarrow

And for the modern question- night before- still in civilian clothes with modern toys

The lock broke but it didn't fail- the blade isn't held open but it can't, and won't close on your hands so Eh.... Still this SHOULDN'T happen- I still don't understand what exactly happened...
This has to be a steel or ht issue

But it does matter what you were doing. CS didn't say that their knives were unbreakable. Maybe you just exceeded the knife parameters.

If you are going to try and use their warranty then you better have your receipt handy. Also, it better have been less than a year since you bought it. Otherwise, their warranty is useless.
