I hammered it into a cinder block. It was in far enough for me to pick up the block by the knife. I probably should have pounded it in a little farther before kicking it :(

Sorry to hear about your loss... But when cinder block zombies attack you need to use every piece of INFI to defend yourself. Next time use the AK and no problems will happen. :D

well htat is one hell of a way to break a knife. Time for you ta send it into the busse spa. Or to send in for the warranty. Oh and if you dont need the peices id be glad ta take them off your hadns got something i wanna try :)

Yup, I don't believe intentional abuse if covered by the warranty but call the shop just to check. I'm sure Jerry will make it all better.

Lol you guys is craaazy, I chop 2X4's and cut down dead tree's but you guys chop cinder blocks. hahaha.

I save all my cinder block destroying for one of my "user" Rats.. ;)

Heck, if I do happen to break it, I'll just have whatever stub is left over resharpened, and continue on with the "testing".. :D

I don't have any rats yet.

It was doing fine until the tip broke. The tip still looks good. The edge isn't damaged and I hit the spine with a hammer to chip off chuncks of the block.

I have to ask WHY??? It is blatant abuse of not only the knife but of the fine warranty that Busse Combant offers with it's knives. There is no reason I can think of to pound a knife into a cinder block and then kick the handle of the blade. There can be no other intent but to destroy the knife. Yes these are things that have been done to prove that Busse knives can stand up to heavy abuse, but it's generally done for testing purposes. "RANT OFF"

I didn't purchase materials to strip the coat so I could polish the knife, then spend over an hour to get it as far as I have just so I could break it.

The specs for the SK are:

Overall Length 7 1/8"
Blade length approx 3"
Handle length approx 4 1/8"
Blade Height approx 1/2"
Thickness 3/16"

I got a great idea. In the future go to Home Depot and buy one of those great big cold chisels, you know the ones made for hammering into concrete. You can beat the heck out of it and you wont have to worry about breaking it. And as a bonus, since the chisels are a whole lot cheaper then SK's with the money you saved you can buy a whole lotta beer.

After people come here and see all the threads, and read all the info about what people can and have done with their Busses, some of them want to try it out. Perhaps he was showing off, defending the purchase of a small $100 piece of steel to a non-believer.

Regardless, it's his knife, he can do with it as he pleases. Busse is a company that has always stood by their product, even in situations like these. If they choose to replace it, then how can you hold it against the user?

What is it people say when a person gets a Busse user? "Go out and abuse it!" Where's that enthusiasm now?

Someone wasn't reading Swamp Rat forum to see someone else busted an M6 by hammering it. Metal on metal eeees no goot. Hammer nails, not knives.

But see what you can do with Jerry. He's gotta get stuff like this solely b/c of the rep of his knives. I'm surprised someone hasn't dropped one from the Space Shuttle yet to see if re-entry will ruin the temper. ;)

I read the entire thread. I don't see how the places I struck the knife would have made the tip snap. I hit the thickest part of the spine a few times (wasn't even close to 8 hours.)

NASA does not currently have a rocket strong enough to lift INFI into orbit... ;)
