I broke my ZT 561! Anybody else?

Has anyone ever experienced this?
Is this an issue for ZT?
A crack from the thumb stud hole, running diagonally upward and forward of the jimping.
Since the stud is also the blade stop, maybe there is too much impact force as the studs meet the handle
Besides chipping, I've never had an issue with any blade before.
I'm a user, not an abuser. I did let some Russian torture tests convince to buy this knife though.

How is ZT's warranty department?
Seems pretty straight forward on their website.
 
I have had great experiences with the KAI warranty department. I would be that they will take care of it-post haste.

I have seen a picture of a 560/561 that had cracked in the same manner as you have described, but I don't believe that it is a "common" occurrence.
 
Seen this happen to a few now. It's really what turned me off buying knives with press fit thumb-studs in blades that act as stop pins, or any studs in blades acting as the stop pin.
 
Thanks guys. It's my favorite knife in the collection, so I'm glad to know that my issue is rare and easily fixed.

There was a previous thread about a 560 owner who had a accident with the blade and ruined it and sent it back to ZT who told him they didn't have any replacement 560 blades so I think they sent him a credit for 390$ or something along those lines. Maybe he will chime in here.

That sucks about your knife. I see them on eBay but they are getting pricey now..
 
Wow. Glad I have a backup in the safe.
Wouldn't be too upset if I got ZT credit like he did though.
 
I just returned my 560cbcf model for the same thing. I really hope they can fix because I love that knife. I also had lockbar problems with my elmax 560. I hope they can fix them, not sure what I would do with credit.
 
Sure have never heard of this before. I am sure they will get this sorted out in short order.

562cf maybe, that seems to be the evolution of the 560 and guys seem to rave about it.

Yep, that was me.

Bottom line, if they have blades in stock you can get a new blade for $10 I believe. If not, I got a voucher for the MSRP of my 0560, which was $325. Still deciding what knife I want to get with that money. Their support was very helpful.
