I can't believe I forgot how to...

Ok guys, I have a problem. Well, sort of. Since it has been so long since I had to mess with an ALICE pack, I forgot the correct way to strap in the bottom portion. I have most of it down, but there is something askew… It gets loosened up at times, so I know I must not be doing it correctly.

I have looked online, and haven’t found not one video or whatever on how to properly rig an ALICE pack together. So… I humbly ask, does anyone properly know how or can help me with this issue in some way, shape or form?

ThanX! :D

I had an ALICE for awhile as my first pack, but got rid of it. Even the so-called thick straps were so thin they about ate me alive. My new Kelty Super Tioga is much nicer.

But you should try it anyway. It might work for you.

This should do it:
Manual

Thanks. I used this very manual a while back to help me rig it the first time around. I got a new pack recently... put the pack to the frame and the bottom straps kept slipping out of the buckle... I think I have it fixed.

There is a small D-ring at the bottom very near the side buckle for your straps to attach to the frame. This time around (because in the past, I now remember that I did not do this) I slipped it additionally through the D-ring, just because it looked like it would help hold the pack more firmly. NOT.

So far, it seems to be holding up securely and not slipping. Thanks for the manual. I forgot to add in the search the world manual. Doh.

What the crap are those D-rings for anyways? Maybe the second loop for attaching bedrolls? Yeah, maybe.

Glad I could help. I have an Alice pack that I just got recently and it looks like it was rigged correctly (by the other guy) but I don't recall seeing any extra D-rings. I'll look at it when I get home to see how or if they are being used.

+1 for the Kelty Super Tioga. The lighter your pack is empty, the more stuff you can put in it.
