I cant decide between Buck Strider 880 & Manix

Unless you want to do signifiant prying with the tip get the Manix, otherwise it is vastly superior to the Buck/Strider in terms of cutting ability, handle ergonomics, security, point penetration, lock strength/security and ease and versatility of opening.

Agree across the board. With the caveat that handle ergonomics are a personal thing, and if you can get a chance to handle both knives beforehand, it's worth seeing what works better for you. Otherwise, I don't think the Buck is in the Manix's league.

I would be afraid to do that.
Most folders can take a lot of load like that if you jam them right in to the pivot and you walk right in next to it. This way there is also little danger of you slipping and your foot coming across the blade which would definately ruin anyone's day.Dangerous - probably, I would look for other ways first.

I promse I dont make stepping on my folder a habit. It was an emergency. I just like a knife that can handle more than I can throw at it.

I would go with the Manix, IMHO it's one of the best knives made by Spyderco. Really great knife.

The Buck isn't a bad knife, I got one recently and like it a lot, but I don't think it can compete with the Manix.

gont, given your actual and intended uses, I stick by my original idea of adding a fixed blade to the mix.
