Zero Tolerance still has some 0551's that haven't been released yet... I would wait for one of those, and jump on it if you see it.

What will you be using the folder for, what materials do you like for the blade/handle, what blade length do you want, do you want a lightweight knife or does weight not matter, etc.? Answers to some/all of these questions will help us give better recommendations. :)

it will be an edc knife, and id prefer higher quality blade steels like s30v and 154cm. doesnt matter a whole lot about handle material but a metal material would be awsome. blade length would be best between 2-4 inches. weight isnt a big issue either.

I'd say take a look at the sage 2. Not heavy duty but Ti handles and S30V. You'd have more than enough left over to have a night night on the town.

Cool, thanks. The Alias II and 940 are good knives, but I'll go ahead and toss out some more for you to consider (all with metal handles).

For something a bit larger/heavier, you might also check out the 3.5" Hogue EX01 and Benchmade Presidio (3.42") or Mini Presidio (2.97"), all of which have 154CM blades and aluminum handles (the Hogue also comes in a G-10 handled version). There's also the Alias I, of course, which is just a bigger version of the Alias II.

For smaller/lighter knives, the Spyderco Sage 2 is an excellent titanium framelock with an S30V blade the same length as the Alias II's. IMHO, the ergos on the Sage 2 are a bit better thanks to its finger choil and "taller" handle, but the tradeoff is that you get a bit less cutting edge length and a wider knife when closed compared to the Alias II. Another possibility would be the Benchmade 707, which has a 2.95" blade made from 154CM and aluminum handles with G-10 inlays. The Benchmade 943 is the same as the 940 except with a clip point blade instead of a reverse tanto blade, and black aluminum handles instead of green ones.

For something small but decidedly not light, there's the Benchmade 755, which has a titanium framelock on one side and G-10 scale on the other. It's a real beast of a knife (in a good way!).

I agree with the sage 2. I have all 3 knives Osborn 940, Bradley aliase, spyderco sage 2. I recommend the sage 2 for sure.

If you've narrowed it down to those two and you're set on one of them - my reco would be for the 940. After 2+ yrs, for a guy with 50 or 60 possible EDC knives at my disposal, I still carry the 940 more than any other probably.

It's a good, reliable, solid pocket knife.

Ritter Griptilian, Spyderco Manix 2 are probably my favorites for EDC. Got a few Kershaws, but they don't tend to make it into my pocket. The Hogue EX01 is a nice knife too. I did just find a place that still has Manix 2 in FFG S30V for sale also :)
