Hello all,

As a Christmas gift to myself I want to get a new ESEE.

As of now I only own an Izula so I really want to expand from there. I plan on making this my main knife for day-hikes and things of that nature. All cooking is done with my alcohol stove but I'll need to make the occasional fire for those cold nights.

I'm debating between a RC-4 and a RC-6 but I am open to all suggestions.

Hopefully I have enough responses within the next 4 hours or so, that way it'l;l ship today!

Thanks,
...Zini

I got my first ESEE-3 a few weeks ago and LOVE it...between the 4 & 6 I would go with the 4 but I prefer smaller knives; I use a hatchet for chopping :-)

The ESEE-4 is a superb all around knife. It has quickly become my favorite knife ever. I debated around between the 4 and the 6 for a long time myself, but I just wasn't seeing the need for 2 more inches of blade. I'm not disappointed. The only other option I could suggest (though it won't be here in time for Christmas) is to wait for the Laser Strike Mk2. It may wind up being my EDC belt knife if it comes out looking good enough.

God bless,
Adam

Just got the 4 and i'm loving it :D

I had the same questions and finally decided to go with the 4, i find it is the perfect size for my goto camping knife.

Absolutly love the quick responeses you get from this subforum!

ESEE 4 it is, I was leaning towards it and ya'll pushed me that last little bit. :D

Thanks,

I would submit that you should consider the 3. I don't have a 4 or a 6, but my 3-MIL is my favorite walking-in-the-woods knife. It's stout enough for most things you'd want a knife for, but light enough to be unobtrusive.

All of that said, I've heard the 4 is a great knife, and I have no cause think you wouldn't be very well served with it.

You made the right decision, the 4 is one of the best deals in a general purpose knife out there. If I could only keep one knife, it would be my 4.

That consensus seems to be that the 4 is the best do it all knife. so I ordered one myself. I hope it's in my mail box today! Next I'm getting the Izula II.

Just suck it up and take out a equity loan, get them all, then congratulate yourself when they all get to your door prior to Christmas. What a way to end 2010 and begin a new decade.

Sold my hest, 3, 4, kept my izula, and just got the 5. Im a dumbass, the 4 is a great knife. You'll love it.

I would go with the 4 because it wouldn't weigh as much (obviously) for hiking, and it has very comparable capabilities. Also for hiking, it would also be a good blade for self defense.
