Pitdog,

Maybe you are just not a "safe queen" kinda guy...:D Nice bunch of fatwood there.

Hey Pitdog, some mineral spirits should take off a bunch of that built up resin and goo. It might need a soak depending how caked on it is. Looks like the knife is working hard though, which is always nice to see! :thumbup: -Matt-

i agree with what the others say;

shiny is overrated

but i do agree that it is good to keep your knife clean. i have had good luck with some rubbing alcohol. windex is good too.

i imagine for the really tough resin there mineral spirits would do you some good like grease man says.

Goo Gone, or mineral spirits, or even lighter fluid to loosen/soften it up.
Use the above and "mechanically clean" or scrape the residue off.
Those bamboo kitchen skewers are great for that, they are a little thicker than a toothpick and about 12 inches long.
But don't use metal to scrape! Metal will scratch.
Stick to bamboo or wood.
Those Bamboo skewers are usually a buck a pack (pack of 50) in a dollar store.
They are also great for picking lint/dirt/etc out of the innards of folding knives.
You can whittle them down to fit in really tight hard to reach spots.

A shiny Knife is like a Shiny Truck. :D

It just shows that they are never used for what they are built for.

Keeping your knife shiny between usages is not a bad thing. Maintenance is what separates humans from the other animals. Now, keeping your knife shiny by not using it, well that's something else entirely. Other animals like collecting shiny things too, doesn't mean that they use em either.:)
